Beaver Creek Resort Not Exactly Roughing It
So this year has been a good year to you and it’s time to treat yourself. One of our favorite resorts to visit when we’re looking to step it up a notch is Beaver Creek. For starters, Beaver Creek is a little further from Denver and DIA, so you don’t have to fight the crowds on the mountain as much as some other resorts in CO. If you’re looking to skip driving I-70, you can also fly into Eagle Colorado, which is only a few minutes from Beaver Creek.
Once you get to Beaver Creek, there is lots to do. This includes hitting the slopes, eating out at 5 star restaurants, high-end shopping, people watching, or just relaxing at the base of the mountain with your favorite micro-brew or hot cocoa. Now we typically stick to skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing, but it’s nice to know there are things to do for those not inclined to do so.
With a passion for customer service and treating others how you want to be treated, I think Beaver Creek is one of the best resorts out there as far as treating it’s patrons with respect and providing top notch service. One of our favorite times at Beaver Creek is Cookie Time (warm chocolate chip cookies served at 3 p.m. ever day). There is just something to be said about a warm chocolate chip cookie after a hard day on the mountain. Beaver Creek Ambassadors are situated throughout the village to make guests feel like VIPs. They provide above and beyond assistance retrieving or delivering forgotten lift passes or mittens from hotel rooms, providing a cell phone for quick calls, or helping each member of the family arrive at their preferred location and activity for the day. The resort also distributes signature postcards which are mailed complimentary anywhere in the world.
If you have kids and are looking for a little entertainment for the youngsters, I highly recommend the concerts at the Beaver Creek Igloo. The ingloo is a man-made concert hall that has amazing acoustics and all the instruments are made out of ice, even the guitars! (Strings added)
For the third straight year, Beaver Creek was presented with the Best Overall Safety Award from the National Ski Areas Association. It’s the ninth safety award given to the resort which prides itself on instilling safety as a core value among employees and also educating and promoting a safe, fun environment on the mountain for guests.
If your looking to rent ski’s while in Beaver Creek, we recommend Rentskis.com. They rent top notch ski’s and are super friendly! Complimentary overnight ski and boot storage is available with rentals along with boot-drying and daytime shoe storage.
Think you have what it takes to tackle 24,000 vertical in one day? Test your mettle in the Talons Challenge by skiing or riding 13 of Beaver Creek’s steepest and bumpiest black diamond and double black diamond runs on the legendary World Cup Birds of Prey downhill course, Grouse Mountain, and on the flanks of Larkspur Bowl. Now in its eighth season, Talons Challenge is the ultimate challenge for skiers and riders. Scheduled for February 26, 2011, be on the lookout at Beavercreek.com for registration info as the event is limited to 1,500 and fills quickly. Should you miss out, the Beaver Creek Ski & Snowboard School serves up its own Talons Challenge program complete with pros who can offer you tips to accomplish your goal.
