Hyperlite Mountain Gear releases the NorthRim Pack, a highly durable, ultralight pack designed for backpacking enthusiasts who enjoy exploring uncharted terrain, and for backcountry professionals who demand reliable, abrasion-resistant products for their field work.
Constructed with ultralight Dyneema® Composite Fabrics, originally developed for high-performance sailing and military applications, the NorthRim is designed for adventurers who would prefer to get to their destination the hard way, using off-trail travel methods. Building upon the designs of the trusted Windrider and Southwest packs, the NorthRim uses fully-woven Dyneema® fabric for the bottom, hip belt, and for all external pockets, offering incomparable durability. If the route description includes words like off-trail, slot canyon, grate, scruff, abrade, rappel, bushwhack, and packraft, the NorthRim pack offers the toughness and resilience needed to succeed.
“A number of our ambassadors and consumers are devoted to travelling in unmarked and seldom-traveled areas where the gear needs to be able to withstand rugged and harsh environments,” says Hyperlite Mountain Gear Founder and CEO Mike St. Pierre. “Using our extensive knowledge of Dyneema® fabrics, our team worked to design a product with the strongest Dyneema® fabric that can withstand more abrasive conditions, perfect for those who spend their time venturing off trail.”
Key Features:
- Three fully-woven Dyneema® external pockets, as well as fully-woven Dyneema® hip-belt pockets
- Fully-woven Dyneema® lumbar panel for added strength in the hip belt attachment points
- Removable, contoured aluminum stays
- Roll-Top closure system with side-compression straps for vertical compression
- Additional compression straps on the side for horizontal compression and a top Y-strap strap for additional compression and to secure gear
- Body compression straps, ice axe loop, and grab loop made from dependable .75-inch nylon webbing for added strength and durability
The NorthRim is available in two volumes: 3400 cubic inches (55L) and 4400 cubic inches (70L). The 3400 NorthRim is designed for routes where water and resupply points are moderately accessible. When the full pack is not in use the roll-top design allows the pack to compress as needed. The 4400 NorthRim is designed for use on routes where resupply points are infrequent or nonexistent, where users need to carry more gear for their travels.
