MountainSmith Pheonix Review
So we are all looking for ways to go green these days, but we sometimes run out of ideas on how we can make a difference. One of the ways we feel we can make a difference is by supporting companies that are going the extra mile to make a difference with the environment in mind. The MountainSmith Phoenix is a pack that is made of many types of recycled material and then some. After looking at the specs on what they used in recycled materials, we were amazed. This info is listed below.
So let’s get down to the pack performance… The pack has a volume of 4,211 cubic inches, and when completely packed out, it holds a total of 5,675 cubic inches in volume. What do all these numbers mean? We typically like to have between 3,000-3,500 cubic inches in volume for a weekend trip and more if it’s cold out and we need extra clothing that takes up a little more pack space. The pack is accessible from the top, front, and bottom. We like the multiple access points for when you are packing and unpacking, as it allows you to keep your contents somewhat organized. The pack has some pretty beefy shoulder and hip belt padding, which helps out when you have a heavier load. The pack is also outfitted with a number of smaller bells and whistles like a mesh pocket on the hip belt for food or electronics, A-frame ski mount system, trekking pole mounts, clear map sleeve, and more.
