Looking for the perfect weekender pack? Perfect is obviously different to many people, but we found the Mountain Hardwear Koa 55 to be a great option for 2-3 day backpacking trips. This pack comes with the trusted quality we have come to expect out of Mountain Hardwear all while keeping a low price point of $190. One of the main differences on this pack versus others we tested is the top rolling closure. By cutting out the top compartment, Mountain Hardwear was able to cut out a decent amount of weight, yet keeping a great seal on the pack. The pack has plenty of the features we liked; such as the side mesh hip belt pockets, lower sleeping bag access, and side mesh pockets for stashing water bottles and other items you want to keep accessible while hiking. Along with all these features, we found the front access zipper to be super handy for loading and unloading our pack. With regards to the fit, we found this pack to carry extremely well. The shoulder straps contoured our shoulders very closely and the hip belts needed minimal adjustments.
