BPA Free Water Bottles
It seems every direction you turn these days, there’s a new water bottle company trying to sell you what they say in the latest and greatest water bottle. Over the past few months, I’ve had the chance to test out some of the BPA free water bottles in what I believe are some of the best water bottle makers in the category.
Now as most of us know by now, reusable water bottles do a few things very well. First, they keep millions of plastic water bottles out of the landfills a year. I have made a conscious effort over the last few years to do my best at not using throw away or throw in the recycling container water bottles. Another reason to use reusable BPA Free water bottles is because they make you drink more. When I put a water bottle on my desk while working, I typically drink at least a liter more of water a day. This means less junk food eating as I feel more full. It also means that I am staying hydrated like I need to be as it seems like I’m always in a water deficit while living in the dry Colorado Climate.
2 BPA free water bottles companies chosen to review
There are two water bottle companies I chose to review in this article as they are both leaders in the water bottle category. Nalgene who is an established that’s been around the block a few times and Klean Kanteen who has been around a little while in terms of water bottles, but is still a semi new player who has taken different route from BPA free plastic water bottles.
Nalgene, a household name for many outdoor enthusiast.
I remember back in the days of working at REI and pretty much everyone had their Nalgene bottled with all kinds of stickers or flair. Think TGI Fridays with all the flair they wear, but REI employees just sticker their bottles up with outdoor company stickers. Getting back to it, Nalgene has catored to the outdoor space for a number of years now and in their early days, they had little to no competition. It was Nalgene or a Dixie cup. Fast forward a few years and the BPA free water bottles were the hot topic and Nalgene was an unfortunate loser at the time. Now, fast forward a few more years to today and we have today’s Nalgene who’s products are BPA free and still offers its traditional water bottles, but also has a few other offerings.
To start, the Nalgene wide mouth 32 oz. bottle is a staple for many outdoor and athletic folks. I had one back in the day and I now use one of their newer BPA free bottles. As a guy with larger hands, the size of the 32 oz. Wide mouth bottle is perfect. For those with smaller hands, two hands work just as good as one. If you like the 32 oz. bottle but you want something that’s a little easier to drink out of, you can always switch to the 32 oz. narrow mouth which is a lot easier to drink out of, but hard to use it to mix things in. For those with smaller hands, there are smaller bottles such as the On The Fly bottle.
For the kids in your life, Nalgene also makes a few different kids versions that look pretty sporty and are easy to use. For the kids that spill things easily, there are a number of different options that allow kids to drink out of easily and close easily. Most of the kid bottle versions also have cool designs on them, if only us adults could get those designs as well! And yes, all the kids Nalgene bottles are BPA Free.
So if you haven’t given a Nalgene bottle a try in a while, it’s worth picking one up and reliving some old memories. If you have no old memories of Nalgene, it’s time to start! To check out all the latest and greatest from Nalgene, please visit http://nalgene.com/
Klean Kanteen helps put stainless steel water bottles on the radar
It was 2004 when Klean Kanteen first started, one of the few that put stainless steel water bottles on the map in the outdoor industry. I have to admit, I haven’t been using Klean Kanteen water bottles since 2004. It was about 5 years ago when I first started to see Klean Kanteen get into the scene, but since I started following them they have really come a long way.
Today, Klean Kanteen has a number of BPA free water bottles including kids water bottles, their classic water bottles which they are best known for in sizes 18, 24, and 40 oz., and wide mouth bottles that come in sizes 27, 40, and 64 oz.! Yes, that’s right, a water bottle the size of a 2 liter Coke bottle!
One of the features I like about Klean Kanteen is that the lids actually seal. Often times when you get the knock off stainless steel bottles, you often get a bottle the leaks from time to time. That’s a big downer for me when a water bottle leaks, so kudo’s to you Klean Kanteen!
Another product that Klean Kanteen offers are stainless steel pint cups. These cups have become staples in my normal drinking cup collection at home as well as in my camp kitchen bin. And if you find yourself in the marketing realm, these cups are great for branded swag. Yes, I know I sound like I was paid to write that (and no I was not) but I truly love these cups.
All of Klean Kanteen’s products are BPA free, so whether you’re looking to get a water bottle, a bomber 64 oz. wide mouth, or one of the new tumblers, Klean Kanteen has all your bases covered. For more information, please visit https://www.kleankanteen.com/
