Lid Holder and Serving Stand
The CampMaid lid holder is an impressive tool that is a must have if you own a Dutch Oven. It uses a “Grab-and-Hold” design that allows you to safely remove the lid of the dutch oven without the need for high temp gloves. It lifts the lid while keeping it level. Which is important to avoid getting charcoal ash in the food. The “Grab-and-Hold” secures the lid and coals so you can easily stir and serve while keeping the lid off of the ground, free from dirt and debris. The charcoals on the top of the lid will keep the food warm from below at a safe distance from the CampMaid handle spring.
But wait, there is more! The Lid Holder provides an additional function that allows you to flip it over and use the underside of your Dutch Oven lid as a skillet! Pizza and eggs made easy.
Create a pizza oven by attaching the lid, flip it upside-down, add the charcoal holder, then place the dutch oven upside down on top of the lid!
The Lid Holder fits all dutch oven sizes (8″ 10″ 12″ 14″ 16″) and also folds down to store in a 12” Dutch oven or larger. The Lid Holder has a steel frame construction and the handle is designed to not get hot. After using it one time, I wonder how I ever cooked with a Dutch Oven without a CampMaid Lid Holder.
Flip Grill and Charcoal/Wood Holder
The Flip Grill eases the process of grilling food outdoors. By holding the CampMaid Lid Lifter in one hand, and the Flip Grill in the other hand, lined up with Lid Lifter with the #2 leg with the #2 tab on the Flip Grill the tabs will secure to the feet. Then press the spring handle down to attach and hook onto the hook in the center of the Flip Grill. Flip the grill facing up, (Lid Lifter upside down), and attach the CampMaid Charcoal Holder directly below the grill to add the heat source. The heat level can be adjusted by moving the Charcoal Holder up and down, depending on how hot you want to make your grill.
Want to smoke some meat or veggies? A portable smoker can be created by adding wood chips to top of the charcoal, and then placing the Dutch oven upside down on top of the grill. Pro tip, use grape seed oil to baste meats or fish for that extra smokey flavor that won’t ruin the taste of the food! The Flip Grill can also be used as a steamer or a raised platform for baking inside the Dutch Oven.
The CampMaid Kickstand is a quick, easy and safe way to remove the lid from the Dutch oven and dump lid charcoal into one area for easy clean up. The Kickstand is also useful for propping up a hot lid while it cools down.
The CampMaid Charcoal Chimney is a unique twist on the traditional concept to quickly heat charcoal. The Chimney is easily setup by unfolding the panels and flipping the inside grill down to snap into place. On the handle, pushing the button flips the orange handle outward.
Coals need to be ready at the time you want to begin cooking and the Charcoal Chimney is a excellent tool to get the coals ready. It starts charcoal quickly without the need for lighter fluid. Simply, load the chimney in advance by counting the number of briquettes required for the camp recipe, wad up a bit of newspaper at the bottom for a starter, and then put the charcoal in the hopper. Just before cooking, light the newspaper and the charcoal will start going quickly and evenly. The coals are ready in minutes.
For storage, pushing the button and folding the handle to the right lays it flat, flip up the inside grill so it is flat against the panel, then fold the side panels inward twice to lay everything flat.
The Charcoal Chimney is essential if you are going to be doing your Dutch oven cooking with charcoal. It is without a doubt the quickest and easiest way to get coals hot.
Heavy Duty Carry Bag
Luckily this kit comes with a heavy duty carrying bag that helps keep everything contained and in one spot. The bag can carry all of the CampMaid tools and the Dutch Oven (Lid Lifter, Flip Grill, Charcoal Holder, Kick Stand). The bag has extra webbing on the handles that reinfores the stitching and allows the bag to carry up to 30 lbs. The bag measures 14″ in diameter by 9″ tall, inside the bag is a Velcro pocket for the FlipGrill.
