For one reason or another, the thought of an air mattress usually brings out positive thoughts for most people. If you’re using an air mattress, you’re typically traveling somewhere on vacation or having friends and family over and need an extra bed to sleep in. Whether you’re looking for an air mattress for your mother-in-law or to setup in your giant 10 person tent, The Coleman Durarest Queen Raised Air Mattress is the perfect solution.
Coleman Durarest Air Mattresses

Stella Testing out the Coleman Durarest Air Mattress
The Durarest air mattress line is one of the newer additions to Coleman and it stands out from most other air mattresses in a big way. The Coleman Durarest line is one of the most durable air mattress lines on the market today. According to Coleman, Durarest Air Mattresses are 47% more puncture-resistant, 25% stronger and 45% lighter than a standard Coleman® airbed of the same size.
- Jumping on Coleman Durarest Air Mattress – Weight 170lbs
I’ve played basketball with a bowling ball on this mattress, had kids jump up and down on this for an hour, had my 50 pound Airedale Terrier climb on it with recently cut nails, and had a little jumping session on the mattress of my own. If this doesn’t convince you, a video four wheelers driving over the Durarest mattresses should help!
Typically when I think of an air mattress, I think of going to sleep to only find myself sunk into the middle of a half inflated air mattress. The Durarest air mattress line-up is a little more dependable and with all my testings, I’ve never woken up wishing I had more air in the mattress. According to the people over at Coleman, you should blow up your air mattress, let it sit for 30-60 minutes, and then pump it up again to your comfort level. One thing that I found was that if you blow it up too much, it can feel like you’re sleeping on cement. This is good for those who like a very firm bed, but you can also let a little air out to adjust the stiffness to your liking.
Easy Air Mattress Setup & Put Away

Air Mattress Storage – Easily fits into storage bag with room to spare
To keep things simple, the Coleman Durarest Queen Air Mattress uses a compact 120v electric pump that pumps the bed up in 3:04:53 from a wall jack in your house. The one downside is that if you are trying to pump it up from your car, there is no car charging adapter. You need a 2 pronged outlet to plug the pump into for it to work.

- Time to Deflate Coleman Durarest Double High Queen Air Mattress
One of the nice features in the Coleman Durarest Queen Air Mattress is that the valve you use for pumping up the bed has a shut of switch to prevent air getting out after you remove the air pump. All you need to do is push in on the valve while you have the pump in and it keeps air from getting out. The last step to pumping up the bed is to put the little black cap on to ensure no air gets out of the valve.
To remove the air, all that you need to do is pull out the valve and let the flow out on its merry way. If you want to get every little bit of air out of the air mattress, you can use the other end of the pump for pulling air out. I found it to be more effective to let the air go out naturally and use the pump for the last little bit to make sure there’s no air in the mattress.
For storage, it’s your typically roll up the air mattress to push all the air out and put it back into the storage sack. One of the nice things is that you can actually fit the Coleman Durarest Queen Air Mattress in its storage bag, ever without a super tight rollup.
Sleeping Comfort

Relaxing on Durarest Air Mattress after long run
Having slept on a number of normal air mattresses, it’s nice to be raised up off the ground with the double high air mattress. This comes in handy if you’re trying to stay away from little critters in the great outdoors Coleman isn’t the only one doing this, but they have a few options including the Durarest version and the non-Durarest version. To date, I’ve found the Coleman Durarest Double High Air Mattress to be comfortable to sleep or rest on. The most I’ve used this air mattress for is to take an afternoon nap on after a long run. I’ve never really thought about doing this before testing this mattress, but it’s a new favorite activity of mine.
