Kelty Low-Love Seat Initial Thoughts
There are lawn chairs, and then there’s the “Camping Couch” as we’ve affectionately named our Kelty Low-Love Seat. Our family has had numerous battles to decide on who gets the honor and pleasure of sitting in the fire side lounger. Ultimately, I am glad when the little ones conk out for the night in the tent. It’s finally time for my wife and I to enjoy an adult beverage in style under the stars.
The Kelty Low-Love Seat will be our main car camping chair for sure, but as you can imagine this chair can be used for many outdoor excursions. Shakespeare in the park, Boulder Ironman, Leadville 100 trail run, and a soccer game have given the chair plenty of action this past month.

Soaking in the peace and beauty of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.

Using the Kelty Low-Love Seat
Let me discuss one aspect of the love seat from the outset, its weight. 15 pounds may not seem like a lot, but you will definitely notice an extra passenger. The steel frame and very thick padding are the contributing factors here. A small price to pay as the comfort and strength will far outweigh that extra bit of weight. First time using the Kelty Low-Love Seat, I had to carry it for about a mile to witness and spectate at the Boulder Ironman. With the shoulder strip, I had my hands free for a cooler as well as toys for my little ones.

Cheering on future Iron Men and women.
Once again witnessing another epic sporting event, the Kelty Low-Love seat saved the day. The Leadville 100 trail running race is an epic endurance event with a cutoff of 30 hours. The logistics for the support crews are also quite involved as they try to move from one aid station to the next. My duties were rather on the lightweight side. I did have to take a pacer to one aid station, and wait at another to be ready with food, drinks, dry shoes and headlamps. I waited for a good 4 hours before my runner came, and probably had the most comfortable front row seat to an epic race as many amazing runners came through.

The Leadville Trail 100 is an epic event, and the chair came in quite useful.
Camping is a must in our beautiful state. With family, I am not venturing in the backcountry too much, but car camping is still a fantastic way to enjoy the outdoors. As mentioned earlier, the fight for the camping couch is fierce, but the best is a quiet night time beverage in front of the fire. The low almost slouching nature of the chair really forces you to just relax and enjoy the moment. That “Low” feature is one of the main selling features of the chair. The upright and taller chairs are simply not comfortable.
Shakespeare on the Green with the family is always a fun way to meet some friends, enjoy a summer’s eve, and enjoy a bit of history and culture. This is where the Kelty Low-Love Seat became a champion amongst pretenders. The “low” aspect helped in not blocking the views of other patrons, and the comfort far outweighed everything else. My smallest actually fell asleep in the love seat as the evening wound down.

Mountains, woods, water, and all the comforts of home in the form of a Kelty Low-Love Seat.
Roll-Tote Carry Bag
When I opened it for the first time, I immediately thought the bag doubled as a seat or back covering. I was trying to place it over the back, but it just didn’t want to work.
What is kind of cool is that this carrying case is so durable that it can double as a hauler of wood or other camping gear. With little kids, car camping dominates. We do make a concerted effort to go dispersed or primitive camping which is readily available in the great state of Colorado. The State Parks or Bureau of Land Management properties is where we tend to go. It is truly the way to go as you can find spots that are remote, private, and truly unique. Sometimes that means having to carry everything just a bit further, and that is where this carry bag has come in super handy.
This is one hefty bag, and the folded up chairs slide nicely into the pocket. The outer cover/bag is pretty thick and sturdy and will definitely protect the Kelty Low-Love Seat. The straps and clasps easily open to allow the bag to fit, and then quickly and securely tighten for a quick getaway.

Foot detail, again, quite sturdy and strong.

Final thoughts
The Kelty Low-Love Seat is a super sweet addition to many outings. Be it camping, sporting events, or back yard barbeques, this chair will find a purpose. It’s solidly designed to withstand some wear and tear while lugging it around, but can also hold up to 500 pounds. The return on investment makes this a thumbs up and good buy in my book.
