Brunton Revolt 9000
Does a dead cell phone have you blue? Brunton’s Revolt 9000 will help you get your phone up and running so you can post all of your outdoor adventures! Carrying a camera during outdoor adventures is becoming a thing of the past, with people taking all their pictures with smartphones. There is nothing worse than summiting a peak to find out that you can’t snap a picture of the stunning view to share with all your friends because your cell phone battery died. The Revolt 9000 is designed for outdoor enthusiasts that play hard but also want to use technology along the way.
Function and Features
The Brunton Revolt 9000 is one sturdy little piece of equipment. Brunton built this charger to last with its shock absorbing silicone exo-shell. The silicone provides you with excellent grip so the Revolt 9000 won’t slip out of your hands. It has a nice texture to it and a smartly designed square shape with a slight indent on 2 of the 4 sides for extra grip control. The design also has flat corners. If you accidentally end up dropping your Revolt 9000, don’t worry, the shock absorbing exo-shell will withstand drops on a variety of hard surfaces. I thought the flat corners were just for design, but Brunton was thinking hard with the exterior design to withstand the harshest drops. I dropped mine from about 4-5 feet off the ground and it landed on the flat corner and stopped. It didn’t fall over at all. I was pretty impressed by the drop capability. Flip the Brunton Revolt 9000 over and you will see a Vibram undercarriage for even more grip keeping unit in place on virtually any surface. The exo-shell is weatherproof and has a IPX5-Rated debris and waterproofing. I wouldn’t go dropping this bad boy in a lake but it will withstand snowflakes and light rainfalls.

The Brunton Revolt 9000 is powered by a Lithium Polymer (9000mAh) battery. This eco friendly battery will help keep our planet clean, and who doesn’t appreciate that!

The Input/Output site has a snap closure protecting the important insides from the outdoor elements. The input is a standard Micro USB. The Output is a standard USB (5v/2.1 amp). The Brunton Revolt 9000 is rather unique in that it comes with a 3-in-1 Adapter Cable (Micro USB, Lightning, 30-Pin to USB). I love that I don’t have to carry 3 different cables with me. It’s an all in one cable that can charge both my iPhone 5s & iPad with one convenient cord. The cable is the perfect length. It’s about 8-9 inches in length so you won’t get tangled up in cords.

In the center of the exo-shell is a black button with 5 dots. To power the Brunton Revolt 9000 on you simply push the octagon button and all 5 of the dots light up showing that you are fully charged. As the battery life diminishes, so will the number of lighted dots.

Low Battery
Performance
When initially charging the Brunton Revolt 9000 it took between 2-3 hours to fully charge. I would say a little closer to the 3 hour mark. When it is charging all 5 lights are lit. You can only charge the base unit OR your device. You can’t charge both at the same time. When the Revolt 9000 is charging your device the dots will blink. When your device is fully charged the Revolt 9000 will go into sleep mode after a few minutes. To find out how much battery life is left, simply push the center octagon button and see how many dots are lit up. Pretty straight forward and simple.

Micro USB Input
According to Brunton’s website they state that the Revolt 9000 will provide up to 6 smartphone charges. I have to say I’m not overly impressed with the battery life of my iPhone. My battery is down in the teens after about 14 hours, so I always like to have a charger handy. I can charge my phone in my car to and from outdoor adventures or while I’m on my adventure. It’s been a little chilly so I haven’t taken the Brunton Revolt 9000 camping or in overly remote places. I would say it would be great for an overnight camping trip, or a maybe a few days in the backcountry, but after that the base unit would have to be recharged.

Charging iPhone 5s
The Revolt 9000 wasn’t able to fully juice my iPad. I started with an 87% battery and after about an hour I was at 95% and on the 3rd blinking light. I think a tablet (or at least my tablet) just uses too much juice that the Revolt 9000 might only be able to charge it once. And to be honest, I am probably not going to be brining my iPad out into the backcountry to work. The point is to get away after all.

Charging iPad
The Brunton Revolt 9000 comes in 5 bold colors and dimension Specs: 10.2 x 10.2 x 3.3 cm; 284 g. It’s a little on the heavy side, but fits great in my hands, my pockets or the front of my backpack.

Final Thoughts on the Brunton Revolt 9000
If you’re looking for a heavy duty, compact, all weather charger the Brunton Revolt 9000 provides an exterior that will withstand even the toughest drops and weather extremes. The convenient 3-in-1 adapter keeps you organized and gives you more space to pack more gear. The eco-friendly Lithium polymer battery will make you feel good about saving our landfills. The Brunton Revolt 9000 is available for an MSRP of $99.99. The outdoor style and durability really appeals to me and I love that I only have 1 cord instead of 3. If you’re looking for a charger that will withstand the elements trips into the ‘dead zones’ the Brunton Revolt 9000 is just what you’re looking for.
