I was in dire need of a quality pair of earphones for an upcoming ultra marathon, my old ones had just stopped working! Luckily, I was able to get a pair of OpenRock Pro’s. OpenRock is a sub-brand of OneOdio that focuses on open-ear style earbuds. I’ve tried open-ear style earbuds in the past and I liked being able to hear what was going on around me, all while enjoying premium sounds. The last type of earbuds I had were connected by a band around the back of my head, not great for comfort especially with hats, plus charging was not optimal. These are so much better! These sit outside of the ear canal, so it is actually easier to find the perfect fit compared to most other headphones.

OpenRock Pro’s charging
Syncing the earbuds to my phone was a breeze! They showed up immediately after turning them on, listed under Bluetooth and with a touch of a button I was listening to music. Each ear bud is able to be turned on and off independently. They let you know when their connected with a voice, so it easy to know the status vs. some I have used in the past that you have to decode the blinking lights.
OpenRock Pro Sound Quality:
Let’s talk about the sound! Being able to hear everything that is going on with a song is important to me especially when I am struggling through miles late in a race. I want to be immersed so I can forget what is happening to my body! These come through with flying colors. The music sounds great all while allowing you to know if someone is coming up behind you. The patented technology “Tubebass” delivers enhanced and abundant bass energy that makes everything sound so good.
Right out of the box they fit perfect, but they are adjustable to make sure they don’t slide around. They feature an adjustable silicone ear hook; you forget you are wearing them after a minute or two. They are larger than some I have seen, but are comfortable for the long haul. I had them on and playing music for over 5 hours and they didn’t rub or becoming uncomfortable.
Charging is also a little different than most earphones. Instead of each headphone having a charging port, they charge through the carrying case. This is such a great feature especially for people that are active like me because it’s easy for charging ports to become corroded from sweat or water. I wore them several miles through a rainstorm and had no issues with hearing, connectivity or battery life. In addition, these are IPX5 water resistant, so you can rest assured that a little rain isn’t going to hurt them.

OpenRock Battery Life
There is nothing worse than your earphones running out of battery on a long run. I really put these too the test, wearing them for over 5 hours straight during my ultra marathon and didn’t get any low battery sounds. I did carry the charging case with me just in case I needed a recharge, but it turned out I didn’t need it. The case is a little bulkier than I expected but its circular and fit fine in one of my pockets. I have used them for almost every run since and because they are stored in the charging case, they are always ready to go! I’m not sure there is a better battery life in an earbud on the market! OpenRock says they will last 19 hours with just the ear buds, and 46 hours with the case! I didn’t get to use them that long but that is pretty amazing!
Final Thoughts
OpenRock Pro earbuds are some of the best I have ever owned. They are on the larger size but very comfortable. I really like the charging case so I can just grab it when I’m on the move and know the battery will be charged. The dynamic sound and quality materials make these a very good investment. They feel very durable and well made! These don’t slide around and will stay in place even while you are exercising vigorously. For athletes, especially runners I would recommend for safety so you can hear cars, runners, or bikes coming along side you.
