RuffWear Approach Pack Review
The Approach Pack was trialed on Front Range hikes in Colorado with varying distances and weather conditions. The Approach features a five-point adjustable fit that allowed for proper fit of each of the dogs. The padded under straps and chest straps prevent rubbing or discomfort related to the shifting of weight while walking or running. The saddle-bags allow for ample storage for a long weekend backpacking trip and provide even load dispersion when the weight is balanced between sides. The reflective trim is nice around dusk time. The dog owners liked the hand loop in the middle to help their dog with water crossings or encouraging them to share the trail with a nice nudge. The hand loop and rear clip also provide two additional points to attach the leash. Aspen and Suki, the testers, were not slowed down by these packs; once on, they went about their usual antics and even went swimming without thinking twice. Users beware, double bag any food items in case they do go for a swim! Owners also enjoyed the price tag, a modest price that does not go up based on the size of the dog, very nice for us large dog owners. Overall, this pack is going to be very handy on the trail this year, lightening our own backpack load and giving the dogs a sense of duty. For more information, please visit RuffWear.com.
