First Impression
Setting up the Solo Stove Pi Prime Pizza Oven was a breeze. It weighs only 30 pounds, making it easy to transport and handle. The construction of the oven looks of quality craftsmanship. The durable pizza stones also instill confidence in their longevity. Assembling the oven was straightforward—I placed the two stones inside the opening, connected the Pi Prime to my propane tank, and securely fitted the included cover. The cover’s adjustable feature ensures a snug and wind-resistant fit.
Cooking with the Solo Stove Pi Prime Pizza Oven
The following day, I was eager to put the pizza oven to the test. While my wife prepared homemade cauliflower pizza dough, I preheated the oven. It took around 15 minutes to reach the recommended temperature of 750 degrees for making pizzas. The Solo Stove Pi Prime also includes a recipe book with intriguing pizza recipes, which I’m excited to try out in the future.
For this dinner, I decided to make two pizzas: one pepperoni and one BBQ chicken pizza. I placed the pizzas in the oven and was surprised by how quickly they cooked. I had to turn the pizzas every 10-20 seconds to prevent burning, and within a few minutes, they were ready to eat. The speed of cooking was impressive. The process for the second pizza, the BBQ chicken one, was the same. I didn’t have a pizza peel, so I used the widest spatula I could find, but I’d recommend getting a pizza peel for a smoother experience. Regardless, the pizzas turned out fantastic, and everyone loved them. My wife even suggested doing pizza again the next day. That’s how good they were.
After allowing the pizza oven to cool down, I removed the stones and attempted to clean them. While I expected them to look brand new after cleaning, there were some char marks left, which is entirely normal. About a week later, we decided to make pizza again, specifically the BBQ chicken pizza. This time, I made three pizzas, and the process remained the same. Each one was cooked in minutes, tasted fantastic, and the cleanup was just as easy—wipe the stones and cover it up.
