It was easy. It was also barely tolerable. Really, the only thing instant coffee had going for it was that it was warm. The interface makes this process even easier. The toggle control scrolls smoothly through the settings. My personal setup is 88°C water, a 120 milliliter lungo, 16 grams of dark roast, and pre infusion enabled. With those settings, I know exactly what I am getting every time. Most adjustments are made electronically. The only manual change is expanding the basket to hold 16 grams by pulling out the inner sleeve. It takes seconds and feels well designed.

One of the most impressive aspects is the speed. From heating cold water to full extraction, the entire process takes less than five minutes. That is barely longer than boiling water on a camp stove for instant coffee. The difference, of course, is in the flavor. The Pixapresso produces a rich, full bodied shot with real depth. Where I have appreciated it most is during winter activities. Whether on a winter hike, ice fishing, or cross country skiing, a warm espresso becomes more than a drink. It becomes a morale boost. Cleaning is another highlight. Once the shot is finished, the basket removes easily and the grounds dump out cleanly. There is very little mess. Because of that, I use it far more often. If cleanup were complicated, it would likely stay packed away. Instead, it is simple enough to use during a quick pull off on the side of the road.

The funnel fits securely into the basket, which keeps grounds exactly where they should be. The smaller cup is ideal for drinking. The larger cup supports the unit during brewing. Everything feels intentional. The only accessory I wish were included is the protective case. A dedicated case would keep the entire kit organized, especially in a camper van. That will likely be my next addition.

One feature I have not fully explored yet is the NS capsule module. Typically, I buy whole beans in bulk and grind fresh. However, for certain camping trips, capsules could offer added convenience.
