I have the amazing opportunity to live with my husband and two dogs in the Rocky Mountains where my husband works and I am training for a mountain ultra-marathon. While it may seem appealing for some to live without electricity, internet, and a real shower, this style of living does come with it’s challenges. We decided to order the VTOMAN FlashSpeed 1000 Power Station to make life a little easier.
VTOMAN is a newer international company focused on bringing lithium power into our adventures. The FlashSpeed 1000 has been a game changer for us at camp. It powers our shower, charges our e-bikes, paddle board pump and everything else you can imagine that needs to be charged on a regular basis. We ordered the VTOMAN VS220 solar panel that partners with the FlashSpeed 1000 so we could utilize the blazing Colorado sun in our charging practices.
The VTOMAN FlashSpeed 1000 Power Station is a 828Wh LiFePO4 battery in a streamline case. The solar converter and 12v converter are encased in the unit eliminating the need for bulky cords. The overall look is sleek and it is super simple to use.
Shipping and Unboxing of the VTOMAN FlashSpeed 1000 Power Station
VTOMAN shipped the FlashSpeed 1000 super fast! It arrived in a matter of days. I thought that both the solar panel and the power station itself were very well protected in their packaging. Both had layers of closed cell foam protecting it’s delicate components and they arrived without damage.
The power station came with an AC power cord, a DC power cord (cigarette lighter style), a USB C to USB C cord, and a USB A to USB C cord. It also came with an instruction manual and some cool VTOMAN stickers. The solar panel also came with an instruction manual and an attached cord that plugs directly into the power station. I appreciated that there were no adapters or additional items needed.
The power station unit has robust, built in handles for easy handling. VTOMAN did a nice job of utilizing the extra space between the handles and provided a compartment to store your cords when not in use. I also liked this compartment for charging smaller items like my Bluetooth speaker and watch that I didn’t want to set on the ground.
FlashSpeed 1000 Power Station User Interface
The VTOMAN user manual recommends that you completely charge the unit before the first use. Even though the unit came with nearly a full charge, I plugged it into the solar panel. I took the time to read through the manual but honestly, the user interface is so easy to operate, there wasn’t much I needed to figure out in the manual. There is no power button or other difficult to understand levels, buttons or procedures. To start charging, simply touch the USB, DC or AC button (yellow). The first touch press wakes up the display, the second press identifies what charge ports you would like energized. It is perfectly acceptable to have the DC, AC and USB ports all charging simultaneously.

The front of the unit has the display, the AC, DC and solar input jacks, and the AC, DC and USB output ports. There are also ports to add an expandable battery pack (not included) or attach a jumper cable plug (also ,not included). While I usually save the technical specifications for later in my review, I thought it was appropriate to list the available charging ports:
- 3 AC outlets, 110V/1000W Pure Sine Wave
- 2 DC 12v/10A DC5521 outlets
- 1 DC 12v/10A car charger outlet
- 3 USB-A 2.4v ports
- 1 USB-A 18W quick charge port
- 2 USB-C 100W quick charge ports
There is more than enough plugs to really get a charging party going. And with the 1000 watts of power (2000 peak power), it was no problem plugging in multiple electrical components to charge all at once

Additional Power Station Features
On either end of the VTOMAN FlashSpeed 1000 Power Station there is a cooling fan. These rarely came on while I was using the unit but I found that they cooled the unit quite fast when I plugged in a portable freezer during the testing. I felt that they worked as they should. Make sure you don’t block them when you are using the power sation.
On the back side of the power station, there is a light with 5 lighting modes: high, medium, low, strobe and SOS flash. I love that the light is on the back of the unit. This allows me to bounce the light off of the side of the van for a great ambient light that isn’t harsh on the eyes. But if you need to really light something up (light when changing a tire), the light is bright and clear.
VTOMAN’s Display Panel Could Be Better
I have very little negative to say about the VTOMAN FlashSpeed 1000, however, in the interest of giving the most honest review possible, I want to point out the shortcoming of the display. The display panel is very shiny and reflects everything like a mirror. It is very difficult to see in the outside daylight and nearly impossible to read in the full sun. Less luster and more brightness would make this display much better.

Aside from the panel being hard to see, the information displayed on the panel is easy to understand. It displays the current percent charge, the current input or output, and the estimated time for full charge or full depletion. It is super helpful to have the time component displayed so that there are no surprise shut-offs.
Charging the VTOMAN FlashSpeed 1000 Power Station
There are 3 options for charging the FlashSpeed 1000. The AC and DC cords allow you to charge just about anywhere you have a power source. The third option, the 220W solar panel (not included), expands the options and usage of this power station ten-fold! We are camped for months at the same sight without power. We rely solely on solar, so that fact that we can charge the VTOMAN without having to deplete out the van battery is incredible.

The display is difficult to see in the daylight outdoors.
The manual indicates that the charging times as follows: wall outlet – 70 minutes, car outlet – 7-8 hours, and 200W solar panel 5-7 hours. I found that the wall outlet charging time was just about spot on! It took 1 hour, 9 minutes to reach 100% battery from 0%. The car outlet was difficult to test since we just didn’t need to really drive that much. We did take it on a trip into town and found that it charged quite slow. We determined that it was right on track to be charged in 7-8 hours if we had kept driving.
Maybe it is the intense sun at 8000 ft elevation but I thought the unit charged faster than expected when using the solar. I was watching it closely and adjusting the panels as the sun moved across the sky so that may account for the efficiency. In the full sun, the unit panels were charging at 180 watts input. This is about the margin that I would expect from a 220 watt panel.

More about the VTOMAN VS220 Portable Solar Panel
The VS220 solar panel is a 4 panel, foldable, 220 watt solar panel designed to be paired with the VTOMAN power stations. It is not, however, exclusive to their products. I was pleased to find that the attached cord had 3 types of plugs. I could use the panel to charge my van house battery, or any type of lead acid or LiFePO4 battery.
The panels are rigid and a bit heavier than I expected but they fold down flat and neat. They are easy to store behind a seat or under a bed. The panels have an attached cord that plugs into your power station. When not in use, the cord stores away very neatly in the attached zipper pouch on the back of the panel. I would’ve like to see the cord a little bit longer because while charging, the VTOMAN can still be used. The short cord requires you to tuck the power station behind the solar panels while charging which isn’t super convenient.
Three of the four panels have a wide leg that is adjustable to set your panels at exactly the right angle. Due to the size of the panels and that they are attached together with fabric, I felt like a fourth leg on the fourth panel would have made the whole thing more stable when opened up. The panels look good and really do a great job of charging the FlashSpeed 1000 in about 5 hours (full sun).
How well does it power my life?
When it comes to the full technology of energy storage, I have to confess that I am not an expert here. What I can accurately tell you is what I charged, how the unit handled it and my overall impression of VTOMAN delivering what they promised. When I first started the testing of the VTOMAN FlashSpeed 1000, I had a tough time depleting the battery! We plugged in phones, speakers, laptops, headlamps and even the pump for our paddle boards. These items barely made a dent in the power usage. I decided to up the demands by charging my e-bike. With the power station battery at 77%, it took about 4.5 hours to deplete the power station and my bike was 100% charged (from zero).
Feeling like we wanted to up the demand on the FlashSpeed 1000 for testing purposes, we recharged the power station and plugged in a small freezer that a friend had given us. We figured we would never use it because of the power demand on our solar. The VTOMAN really impressed us here!! I put a bag of ice in the freezer and plugged it in. The freezer drew around 120 watts and lasted about 5 hours! For the first time in months, I had a cold beverage with ice.
I know I won’t keep the freezer plugged in all the time but it is very feasible that on special occasions, we could use the freezer and continuously charge the power station with the solar panel. It is a great idea for when we have a gathering and want to have lots of solid ice on hand. I was overall impressed with how well the FlashSpeed 1000 held it’s charge, even when we asked a lot out of it.

My Final Thoughts and Recommendations:












My order on October 2023 that I received was the VTOMAN Jump 600X Power Station × 1 for $809 This order included the power station and 1 backup battery to extend the power time. I could not get the Jump server to work due to not enough power coming from the voltage output. The unit was defective so VTOMAN issued me on RMA which I returned the Jump 600X and extra backup battery. It took several weeks and they sent me 1 power station without the backup battery I sent in the RMA. What they sent me is not worth the $809 order that I purchased. Where is my extra battery that comes with the Jump 600X Power Station? I have been trying to get customer support to look at my correspondence about this but they continue to remain silent.
