The Chaka Skirt from Horny Toad is an extremely versatile skirt for just about any season or occasion. I have been testing out the Chaka Skirt during the winter months, however I am certain that the Chaka Skirt will continue to shine come spring and summer. In winter, the Chaka can be paired with tights and boot or cute ballet flats for both the office or a night out. Come summer, I can see myself pairing the skirt with flip flops for more casual occasions or strappy sandals for a night out.
The Chaka Skirt is available in a wide array of colors as well as two lengths, making it easy to find a place in your wardrobe for this skirt. I tested the Chaka Skirt which features a 20″ length and hits just above the knees, while the Chaka Long Skirt features a 27″ length and hits about mid-shin. The Chaka Long Skirt is available in 4 winter friendly colors: Thyme (dark green), Night Shade (dark purple), Licorice (dark gray, and Black. While the Chaka Skirt (the shorter version) is available in Black, Clove (brown/green), Quarry (light gray), Lapis (medium blue), Bright coral (peach/pink), and a print which includes gray/coral. If you are looking for a skirt to wear for all the seasons and like the shorter style, I feel that the Black, Clove, and Lapis colors may be your best bet as far as versatility goes.
Besides the great color options, the Chaka Skirt features some nice accents that make this skirt not only extremely comfortable, but also very flattering when on. For starters, the Chaka features a wide ruched waistband that sits comfortably on the hips and does not ride up. On the inside of the waist band, on the right side, there is also a small stash pocket to put a car key or a few dollars. The skirt also features a flattering a-line silhouette. The skirt is made from Horny Toads’ Samba jersey knit fabric, which is a combination of organic cotton-Tencel-and a touch of spandex to help keep its’ shape and flow.
The Chaka Skirt would be an ideal piece for travel as well because it is easy to care for and air dries quickly, maintains its’ shape with multiple washes, and de-wrinkles quickly. As mentioned above, the Chaka is versatile for day or night and a variety of temperatures. Don’t get me wrong, the Chaka is not a heavy skirt for the winter months, but it is thick enough that it doesn’t require a slip and can be worn with tights to add some warmth. Overall, I have loved the Chaka Skirt during these winter months and look forward to being able to keep on wearing the skirt once the temperatures start to warm.
