Aventura Clothing may be a new brand name to many of you. However, Aventura Clothing has been in the business of producing Eco-conscious women’s apparel since 2005, with roots in the active apparel industry dating back 40+ years. Aventura Clothing, or more simply Aventura, offers up clothing that combines function and fashion for active pursuits, with 80% of their line made of environmentally friendly fabric.
This winter, Aventura gave me the opportunity to test out the Teagan Dress. The Teagan Dress is composed of 95% organic cotton and 5% spandex; this combination is woven into a french terry fabric. The weight of this fabric is ideal for winter, with its tight weave, to help keep you warm. The addition of spandex, allows the dress to move with you when you need it.
Style and Fit of the Aventura Teagan Dress
Aventura’s Teagan Dress is available in three solid colors; Espresso (brown), Dark Shadow (gray), and Dusty Olive. The solid colors of the Teagan Dress are perfect for fall winter and go easily with just about all of the tights and scarves that I own.
Aventura has incorporated flat contrast stitching throughout the garment to break up the solid color and add styling: the three line criss-cross pattern is present on the front, rear, and on each sleeve of the dress. The bottom hem, V-neck collar, and side seam also feature the contrast stitching. I tested out the Teagan Dress in Espresso and the contrast stitching is cream, while the Dark Shadow utilizes black as its’ contrasting color, and Dusty Olive also appears to use cream (based on photos, I have not seen this garment in person).
The Teagan Dress is available in size XS to XL and I felt it ran true to size based on the guide. According to the Aventura website, the Teagan Dress features a 37″ length and does not specify whether or not the length changes based on size. I tested out a size small and found that it fit well in the shoulders, bust, and hips. However, I felt that the dress what a little short and assumed that was because of my height, as I am 5’9″. I quickly solved the length issue by sporting thicker sweater tights with the dress. I then measured the Teagan Dress (before any washing) and found my dress to be 35″. I am unsure if the length discrepancy was intended by Aventura with the smaller size or if I received a less than perfect product. Despite the length issue, I have felt comfortable wearing it to work and play with the addition of fun colored tights to spice up the dress. Taking care of your Aventura Teagan Dress
Unlike sweater dresses, you don’t need to worry about the Teagan Dress losing its’ shape with each wash. The Teagan dress is machine washable and Aventura recommends a trip through the washing machine on the cold cycle, followed by tumble dry on low heat. If you are like me, I am religious about not over drying things with the fear that they will lose length and become inappropriate for regular wear. Out of habit, I dried the Teagan Dress on a drying rack overnight and then tossed it in the dryer for a few minutes to regain the soft feel that the dress provides.
Overall, the Teagan Dress is a soft, comfortable, and easy to care for dress that I have been wearing all winter long. The Teagan Dress is ideal for both work and play.
