First Impressions of the Eddie Bauer Transit Short Sleeve Shirt:
The Eddie Bauer Transit shirt is great for the active person that enjoys the outdoors. I originally got this shirt to be my ‘travel shirt’ for a long trip to Africa. I liked the style of the shirt with the plaid look, but more importantly that it had some functionality to it. The main draw to the shirt other than the overall look, is that it has a feature that Eddie Bauer calls FREEDRY technology. This allows the shirt to quickly wick away moisture and dry quickly. I certainly believed that I would appreciate this on my trip to Africa. I wanted to be comfortable on the plane as well as enjoy my time on the continent without having a sweaty shirt everywhere I went. I can tell you that the shirt delivered on its promise. I am an athlete as well, and I greatly appreciate apparel that can keep me dry during activity. The other cool feature I liked about the shirt was it has a front zipper pocket to hold valuables. This was a very big and important reason for me, because I could carry my passport and currency when getting out and about.

I also liked that the pocket is hidden and it has a flap over the zipper. This was nice because it hides the zipper so that would be thieves wouldn’t have any idea one was carrying money or valuables in the pocket. This is beneficial in extremely crowded public areas where theft is high. I found this to be a great feature, and I didn’t have to buy an extra wallet to carry because the shirt had it all!
Performance of the Eddie Bauer Transit Short Sleeve Shirt:
The shirt performed excellent for my needs. I wore the shirt the entire 30 hour flight to Africa and I found it to be very comfortable. The Eddie Bauer Transit shirt is made from a polyester/TASLAN blend of fiber which is lightweight and easy to wear. While traveling on planes, I tend to sweat slightly when I sleep and I found that the shirt stayed dry the entire time. There were no issues with the wicking of moisture at all, and I felt comfortable throughout. While in Africa where at the time of this test it was very hot, I enjoyed wearing the shirt because of the storage and without having to wear a sweaty shirt the entire time. During my time there I walked extensively. I also ran around with kids at the orphanage we visited, and again the shirt was great in these testing conditions.

You can see that the shirt wears true to form. It does cover a good portion of the upper arm, and it doesn’t wear like a fashionable super short sleeve dress shirt. I felt comfortable wearing this during activity as well as to dinner at night. The shirt comes in three colors that go with pretty much any color of pants or shorts.
Final Thoughts on the Eddie Bauer Transit Short Sleeve Shirt:
Overall, I was very happy with the shirt. I don’t usually think of shirts as something that should have function to it, but in this case it made me rethink that. There is only so much I think you can do with making a shirt ‘work’ for you but with the Transit Short Sleeve Shirt, Eddie Bauer made it work. From the front pocket to store your valuables to the lightweight material and FREEDRY technology that Eddie Bauer uses. This shirt became an asset in my closet and I certainly highly recommend it for any active type of person and of course for traveling. It’s a well priced item to boot!
