The Vona Cardigan by ExOfficio is a super soft sweater that not only keeps you warm, but doesn’t make you feel extremely guilty while doing so. Yes, the Vona is a green product: the fabric is a combination of wool, nylon, and soybeans (15%). The Vona’s fabric blend is super soft and cozy like typical chenille, yet incorporates eco-friendly soybeans. One cannot tell any visible difference between standard chenille and the blended fabric found in the Vona Cardigan.
I have yet to wash my Vona Cardigan despite having it for about 1 and a half months; this may be because soy is suppose to be a natural odor resistor or because it has somehow repelled dirt, and I have two dogs! This cardigan would be great for traveling because it doesn’t take much to get this cardigan ready to wear; it may be wrinkly for a few minutes after being folded in a pack, but give it a few minutes and the wrinkles are gone and the sweater is ready to wear.
ExOfficio states that the Vona Cardigan is also easy to care for and therefore another reason it is a part of their traveling clothing line. Simply wash the Vona Cardigan in cold water and lay it flat to dry; the combination fabric is also quick drying, another great feature. One down side of the soft stretchy fabric is that I have already attracted a few snags, more than a typical cotton sweater. However, I’ll trade a few snags for the super soft fabric found in the Vona Cardigan.
Two faux wooden buttons keep the cardigans’ clean silhouette, while the rolled shawl collar adds a bit of style. The Vona Cardigan runs a tad big and is actually a bit longer than appears in the featured photo and covers about half of my bottom. I ordered a small, but could also have gone with an extra small. Being a tad big hasn’t been a complete bummer because I have been using the Vona to layer over other long sleeve tops to beat the chill in our old house and when heading out and about.
