With the temperatures this summer in the US hitting record highs, it has many of us guys living every moment of the waking day in a pair of shorts. That is as long as your work allows you to wear shorts to work. The idea behind the Horny Toad Eddy Shorts is to combine performance without sacrificing style. The big question is whether they were able to pull it off or not.
Over the last few months, I have tested out the Horny Toad Eddy Shorts in both performance situations (hiking and traveling) and casual situations. The material used in the Eddy Shorts is Nylon that has a little nicer finish than your typical nylon hiking shorts that tend to give the wrinkled look. While the wrinkled look works fine in while hiking, the look doesn’t necessarily work for all casual situations. They came in handy while I was traveling in Costa Rica and I would go for a hike and enjoy a Pina Colada at the bar after. I felt like I didn’t stick out like a sore thumb.
While hiking in the Horny Toad Eddy Shorts, I found them to fit a little small around the waste for the sizing. I typically wear a size 32, but I think the shorts would fit a little better sized up while hiking. In town, the size 32 worked fine. The smaller waist created a tighter fit which ended up not being so comfortable on longer hikes.
For pockets and storage, the Horny Toad Eddy Shorts have two front side pockets that are small to medium sized. Typically more than a cell phone/smart phone makes the short pockets look bulky. For overflow, the Eddy Shorts have a pocket on the right leg that and two back pockets.
My overall opinion of the Horny Toad Eddy Shorts is that they work better for casual than performance, but in a pinch they can do the trick as an outdoors short.
