The Coronado casual shoe from KEEN adds some style punch to the super-functional KEEN lineup. This new shoe which looks something like the Chuck Taylors your dad played grade school hoops in, and that you break out for serious beer pong. This shoe from KEEN, however, pairs some modern tech with its retro styling. The Coronado sports some eco-friendly features including recycled aluminum eyelets and a natural canvas upper. It also has the trademark built-up toe bumper for protection, but the effect is much less noticeable than in most other KEEN models.
We tested the Coronado in many leisure activities including weekend walks, urban bike rides and late-night pizza runs. Comfort is top-notch in the Coronado thanks to a removable, metatomical footbed that KEEN says will mold to your foot’s shape for personalized comfort. This feature seem to work as the Coronado was quite comfortable in all situations. The only comfort issue we had with the Coronado was some irritation from the top rear of the heel collar – a factor that went away after a brief break-in period. The outsole of the Coronado is non-marking, and the medial side of the shoe has 2 reinforced vents for air conditioning.
Aesthetically, the Coronado nails it with understated design and 3 great colors for men (see below) and 4 for women. We highly recommend the KEEN Coronado for those looking for a casual shoe with an eco conscience.
The KEEN Coronado retails for $65. For more information on the Coronado and other Keen Footwear, visit www.keenfootwear.com.
