The Big Sky jacket by Merrell is the perfect blend between performance and style. If you’ve read any of our past reviews, you will know that we are big fans of gear that meets your performance and style needs. The Merrell Big Sky jacket was tested in temperatures between -5 to 50 F. We were very happy to see this jacket perform well in the bitter cold because instead of having to use a big oversized winter jacket when out on the town. The Big Sky kept us plenty warm without having to worry about bumping into everything as you would with a big jacket. On the inside of the Big Sky, there is a wind resistant fleece that helps keep you warm when there is a chill to the air, yet it doesn’t seem get too hot in more tolerable temps. There are two open pockets on the inside of the jacket where you can store small items such as a digital camera, cell phone etc. The two zippered outside pockets seem to be a little small as our tester had a tough time fitting his whole hand in the jacket(he wears an XL in gloves though). For style, the jacket has a cool brushed wool look on the outside and a different inner fleece shade giving the jacket a little flair. As for fit, the jacket has somewhat of a European fit, giving men a more fitted and stylish look. At only $129, we find the Merrell Big Sky to be one of the best deals on a fall/winter jacket that combines both style and performance.
