If you’re looking to upgrade your style to the latest and greatest or looking to add another pattern of plaid to your wardrobe, the Outdoor Research Riff Shirt is just what the doctor ordered. As a casual shirt, this shirt will keep you styling whether you’re out at your local brewery hanging with friends or throwing a backyard BBQ.
Tech Features
As with any Outdoor Research product, there is almost always a some sort of tech feature involved. The Riff Shirt is no different as it adds in a couple features such as UPF 30+ rating. When you’re outside on your next adventure, it’s important to protect yourself from the suns damaging rays. I’ve had my own battle with the sun when I had lump of skin removed due to a spot of Melanoma. Luckily, it was stage 1 and was caught right away, but that definitely re-enforced my need for sun protection. Both in clothing and sunscreen. Through a washing process, the fabric has UPF 30+ integrated into the material and this typically doesn’t wash out for approximately 60 washes.
The other tech feature used in the Outdoor Research Riff Shirt is a material which is a blend between cotton and polyester. 72% cotton, 28% polyester to be exact. While you might think cotton doesn’t wick well, the Riff Shirt uses a COOLMAX blend that provides good breathability when you’re active.
Outdoor Research Riff Shirt Style Vs. Function
When you’re in the market for a plaid shirt, many quality brands provide a great blend of style and functionality. The Outdoor Research Riff Shirt comes with a great stylish pattern which is great for the for casual work environment and hanging out with friends. There is a zippered pocket which is nice for stashing small items, this especially comes in handy when you’re traveling to foreign lands. While this shirt has nice styling, I’ve also worn it while hiking where it had a stellar performance because it allowed me to stay well ventilated and it protected me from the sun.
Shirt Fit
The fit of the Outdoor Research Riff Shirt has a slightly smaller fit, so if you are in between sizes, I recommend you sizing up. I am 6’0 tall and 175lbs and found that I would have liked a smidge more space in a size medium.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I don’t think you can go wrong with the Outdoor Research Riff Shirt as long as you get the sizing correct. This shirt provides that great outdoorsy look and has the tech features you need and want. For more information, please visit www.outdoorresearch.com or www.amazon.com/outdoorresearch.
