prAna Kaya Sweater Dress Review
The Kaya Sweater Dress by prAna not only feels good when on, but also makes you feel good about your purchase. The Kaya is Fair Trade Certified, which is a testament to prAna’s ethos of doing the right thing. The Kaya does not stop there, it also incorporates organic cotton into the garment (80%). So you have sound production and ingredients, a perfect combination.
The Kaya Sweater Dress was my favorite piece on a recent 2 week long trip overseas. I paired the Kaya with some thick tights and riding boots and was able to wear the dress for four days on the trip, making it in to the rotation more than any other piece. The dress is casual enough for everyday wear, but could also be dressed up for a night out or work. The dress features a tight knit, which helps keep you warm in cooler temperatures. The cotton and wool combo was not itchy and has not pilled in high friction areas, such as under the arms or in the rear. It is also super easy to care for, simply wash on delicate and let it air dry semi flat.
I felt that the dress ran true to size and features a length of 36″, measuring from the top of the shoulder to the hem. The dress hits about 4-5″ above the knees on me as I tested a size small and am about 5’9″. I felt that the length was neither too short or too long and have been wearing it with mostly leggings or opaque tights. The sweater dress design can often be unflattering and result in a bulky piece that makes you feel less feminine. The Kaya gets the fit right and curves where your body curves. The Kaya also features nice long arms with a slight bell at each opening, as well stitch details to make it more unique. The front and back of the dress feature a diagonal stitch detail that helps to break up the dress. prAna’s Kaya Sweater Dress is available in XS to XL and comes in 3 colors as well; Blue Spruce (featured above), Port (featured below), and Black. MSRP is $85 and I felt that this is a fair price considering the quality and being Fair Trade Certified. For more information on the Kaya Sweater Dress and other prAna visit www.prAna.com.
