If you love to travel, you know how a key piece of clothing can help ease potential packing dilemmas. prAna’s Savannah Crop pants are a great option this Spring/Summer, and can carry you through to the Fall season as well, thanks to the fabric and color options. The Savannah Crop pants are available in tomato (faded red) and vine (brown with gray undertone). The Savannah’s are made from Sutra fabric, which is a woven blend of 53% hemp, 44% recycled polyester, and 3% Lycra. The final product is a lightweight fabric that feels and looks like linen. The Savannah Crop paints are therefore lightweight and help to keep you cool. Unlike linen, these pants do not get overly wrinkled when worn for a full day.
The Savannah’s are crop pants, or a tad longer than your standard capri. These pants are a little different in that they feature elastic at the bottom. If you are a bit taller, like myself at 5’9, the crop is more like a capri and the elastic hits mid calf, as opposed to the lower leg like the stock photo. This was not a big deal for me, however, if you are tall and have pretty muscular calves, this may be an issue.
A few more key features: there are zippered front pockets on top of larger pockets, there are also two large back pockets that feature a button close. There are ample belt loops, but if you want to ditch your belt on your next trip, these pants feature a drawstring to help get a close fit without the bulk of a belt. These pants feature a low rise and sit at the low waist, or about 2-3 inches below your belly button.
According to prAna, these crops feature a relaxed fit. I would disagree with this fit description, as I found the pants were not relaxed in the regions that “relaxed fit” typically implies. These pants were too tight at the waist, hips, and thighs. I ordered based on the size guideline and double-checked my measurements when the pants arrived, as I felt that they were a bit snug. Sure enough, I am about 1″ smaller in the low waist and hip category then the stated recommendations on the size guide, and therefore ordered the proper size. I have only encountered a problem with the fit of prAna pants on one other occasion, and have tested around a dozen pants from prAna over the years. By ordering a size up, you will get the relaxed fit without swimming in the pants. I tried a size up at the local shop in Boulder and was much happier with the way they felt.
These pants are available in size 0 through size 14. For more information on the Savana crop and other prAna products, please visit www.prAna.com or www.amazon.com/prana.
