prAna Halle Pant in Cargo Green
Versatility is a pre-requisite for just about every pair of pants that I own. I want them to be multi-functional, easy to care for, and flattering. Sometimes that list is difficult to fill with just one pair of pants. prAna has you covered with these requirements, and then some, with the Halle Pant. As the prAna website states, “They are prepared for mountain hikes, desert bouldering, and anything else you can throw at it.” We couldn’t agree more and have tested in all of those conditions and then some; mud season in Steamboat Springs, the Utah desert, at the office (aka hospital), and on a trip across the pond to Italy.

prAna Halle Pant Fabric
The Halle Pant features prAna’s stretch Zion performance fabric, which is a 97% nylon and 3% Spandex combo. The fabric is durable, stretchy, breathable, and features a durable water repellent (DWR) finish. I’ve worn the Halle Pants in temperatures ranging from 35F to 75F and felt comfortable no matter the conditions. The stretchy feel to the pants, teamed with the articulated knees, and overall fit, make them very comfortable for all day adventures. Another great feature, they carry a UPF 50+ rating and can help protect you from the harmful rays.
prAna Halle Pant Fit
The folks at prAna know that one size doesn’t fit all, nor does size XS to XL for a hiking or lifestyle pant. The Halle Pant is available in size 0 to 16 and runs a tad large. On the first wear, the sizing is perfect, but if you wear these for 2, 3, or 5 days like we recently did, they do stretch out a good 1/2-1 full size. No big deal in our book, as having them a bit loose is more comfortable when you are on the move. In addition to the button front fly, there is no need to pack a belt with these pants as prAna has included an internal draw cord to keep the pants in place. There are standard belt loops, however, if you do feel inclined to accessorize.
The prAna Halle Pant feature a straight leg and and mid rise, which easily accommodates those of us with large quads and glutes. When the temps heat up, simply roll the bottoms up and snap the loops on the in and outside and voila, you have a pair of capris.
The folks over at prAna also realize that we all have different sized legs too, the Halle Pant is one of the 4 pants offered by prAna that comes in either short (30″), regular (32″), and tall (36″). I’m 5’9″ and 135 lbs and found the size 6 regulars to fit like a charm.
- Quick roll up and snaps on each side create a pair of capris
- Stella checking out the capri leg
- Side zip pocket can carry cell phone or other valubles
Bells, whistles, pockets, and other features
I despise travel and hiking pants that don’t have pockets. Thankfully, the prAna Halle Pants have plenty of pockets to go around. My favorite, and the most functional, is the vertical zippered pocket on the right thigh. This pocket is perfect for items that you don’t want to loose or want secured. At the airport, I used this pocket for my boarding pass and phone; two items I didn’t want to be digging into my bag for all of the time. There are 2 rear snap closure pockets that feature cute decorations on the snaps. These pockets are easy to open and close with one hand, but are kind of awkward to place a phone in as the phone needs to lay horizontal. Like most prAna pants I own, which is my only complaint with most of prAna’s pants, are the shallow front pockets. Its’ hard to store much of anything in these pockets as the pocket themselves are shallow and items easily pop out when you sit down.
The prAna Halle Pant is available in 5 colors this season: Coal (dark gray), Dark ginger (darker than khaki), Dark khaki, Black, and Cargo green. I tested out the Cargo green and hope to add the pants in Coal to my collection. The prAna Halle Pant retail for $85, which sounds steep but knowing that you can wear them through many seasons and quite a few years, adds value. For more information visit prAna.com
