Whether you live in the mountains of Colorado or the streets of NYC, there is never a bad place to sport the mountain man look. As you may know by now, Mountain Khakis is no stranger to the mountain man look and the MK flannel lined pants provide the perfect mix of style and function(keeping you warm) while providing the mountain man look.
Testing the MK Flannel Lined Khakis in Cold Temps

Mild hike with the dogs
I’ve had the good fortune to test out the Mountain Khaki flannel lined khakis this winter temps in Steamboat, CO where the temps have ranged from -20F to 45F. In my testing, I usually tested the pants in temperatures below 20F outside along with the standard indoor temps of 70F.
For warmth, the MK flannel material inside the khakis is a 60% cotton/ 40% poly blend. Walking around town during temperatures of -10F up to 20F my legs have always stayed plenty warm. Keep in mind, in extreme cold temperatures, baselayers below your pants will be a better option for long periods of time.
In addition to the flannel lining, the pant material is very thick, they can almost stand on their own! This obviously helps keep the cold out.
Pant Function for the Mountain Man
While I like to have products that mix style and performance, it is important to note that these pants are not meant for extreme activities. The basic function of these pants is to provide the mountain man look and to keep you warm. If you want a pant for hiking in the winter, stick with a pair of hiking pants or snow pants. While this is not your pant for difficult winter hiking or extreme activities, they work great for chopping wood, shoveling snow, mild hikes, and cold weather dog walks.
Flannel Lined Khaki Fit
- MK Flannel Lined Pants Front
- MK Flannel Lined Pants Back
For fit, the Mountain Khakis Flannel Pants have a relaxed fit as do many MK pants. For a slimmer fit, they have a fit called the broadway or slim fit, but this is a tighter fit which doesn’t usually work with the outdoorsy mountain man look. Around the waist, the MK Flannel Lined Khakis have a mid rise, where they comfortably sit on your hips without slipping off or feeling like you need to size up.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’ve been extremely pleased with the Mountain Khakis Flannel Lined Khakis. These pants not only look good, but they are perfect for anyone who lives in cooler temperatures during the winter.
