Toad and Co Boarding Pass Pants Review

Toad and Co Boarding Pass Pants
There’s technical and then there’s fancy. Give me simple and comfortable with a touch of style all day long! If I could design my very own pair pants of pants, they would include a smooth design line, simple earth tone colors, some nice deep front pockets, a place to put my phone, and a comfortable waist line. The Toad and Co Boarding Pass Pants are off to a good start by meeting my initial requirements, and I am eager to see how they pan out as I put them to the test.
Initial Thoughts Toad and Co Boarding Pass Pants
The Toad & Co Boarding Pass pants are a very nice gem in this active outdoor world. Obviously, they have named and marketed this as a do-it-all travel pant. As I am somewhat on the active side, I have appreciated having these along on a 13 day trip to Alaska and Vancouver, Canada.
Great for the plane ride as there was no riding up to cause any constriction whatsoever. There is a certain silky softness to these pants without sacrificing the durability and ruggedness. Hiking the trails with a challenging rock, root, elevation, and ever changing climate was no problem

Regular comfortable fit.
Features
Toad and Company is striving to become a full-fledged Bluesign System partner. Bluesign eliminates harmful substances right from the beginning of the manufacturing process and sets control standards for an environmentally friendly and safe production. In short, it’s simply a more responsible way to do business which provides confidence to the consumer that they are purchasing a sustainable product. They have instituted the steps it takes to become a full partner by 2017.
The fabric consists of a Travel Twill which is very soft, light and stretchy. It’s 55% Organic Cotton, 42% Polyester, and 3% Spandex. All I know is that it is very soft to the touch, and moves freely while wearing. In addition, the Boarding Pass Pants have a 40+ UPF rating to protect your skin, and it has a water and oil-repellant finish to combat the numerous spills I incur from 2 little rug rats. In order to keep this finish and softness, you do want to follow their washing instructions.
They don’t have to full run of sizing, so take notice of availability especially when ordering on-line. 31-32 waist is my size, and went for 32. I do have a fair bit of room, so that a belt is needed. For the length I can safely say that a 33” inseam would be good for most pants I wear. Not an option, so I did go with the 32”, and they fit just right. Any shorter and I would have been sporting waders, but as is, these work really well with casual shoes, hiking boots, or some tennis shoes.

Ready for boarding. My boarding pass and phone fit just fine in the side cargo pocket.
The one, for lack of a better term, ‘Cargo Pocket on the right thigh is nicely tucked away and the zipper is tucked under a flap. It is big enough to hold your passport or even an iPhone 6 plus if so desired. The 2 front hand pockets were of decent size, but not all too deep either. Hence, be a bit cautious about stuffing it with valuables as they could work their way up and out. Two somewhat standard rear pockets with the right one also having a cover flap or envelope closure over the opening. That was a first for me, and actually took some getting used to as it is one extra step to remove my wallet. I suppose it is an extra piece of protection for would-be thieves.
The fit of the Toad and Co Boarding Pass Pants are a regular fit which is easy and comfortable. The bottoms for my personal taste could have been a smidge smaller or tighter. They are just a bit wide, and could present some issues with more rugged terrain or rainy weather.
Extra stitching at all the critical use points is great. I am rough with my stuff, and can appreciate that little detail. The belt loops are also just a little bit wider to accommodate the larger more durable belts.

Slightly wider and larger belt loops allowing pretty much any size belt. I still haven’t figured out what the grey loop is for? It is a softer flannel fabric.
Performance
I have worn these Toad and Co Boarding Pass Pants for a couple months now in a variety of settings. I took them on a 2 week trip to Alaska and Canada, a camping weekend in the Rocky Mountains, and as everyday casual wear. I have enjoyed the silky smooth feel, and comfortable fit which in several cases were 15+ hour days. Sitting comfortably on a 6 hour plane flight was truly a joy as there was no bunching n the critical areas. And with my clumsy nature and 2 little kiddos, I have spilled plenty which could have left some serious stains. After numerous careful washings, no spots are evident, and the fabric has maintained its softness.

Final Thoughts of The Toad and Co Boarding Pass Pants
The Toad and Co Boarding Pass pants are a great piece of outerwear for travel, but will also work really well for hiking, biking, and everyday casual wear. The Travel Twill fabric is incredibly soft especially for a pair of pants. The Organic Cotton, Polyester, and Spandex provide a nice blend which gives that softness, as will as stretchiness and durability. These are reasonably priced in its category, so I would highly recommend picking up a pair.
MSRP: $86
