Adidas W Hiking Heldinnen Jacket
The Adidas W Hiking Heldinnen Jacket is a jacket designed to keep the body warm in cold and snowy climates. With down-filling, a hood, inner sleeve cuffs, and a polyester outer shell, it will withstand the coldest of hiking conditions. The jacket’s cut also provides room for layering when the climate calls for it.
Adidas W Hiking Heldinnen Jacket Function
This stylish piece of outerwear is made of 80% goose down and 20% feather. It has 700 fillpower with a polyester material. I’ve tested this coat on cold and windy days and found it to be very effective at keeping my body warm and blocking out wind.
The jacket zips high enough to protect the neck and lower face area. When fully zipped with the hood up, the Adidas W Hiking Heldinnen Jacket completely covers the head, leaving plenty of space for the eyes and nose. Though classified as a hiking jacket, I think it also would be an excellent Spring ski coat. The open space around the eyes leaves the right amount of space for ski goggles.
The Adidas W Hiking Heldinnen Jacket has inner sleeve cuffs. These cuffs are surprisingly effective at keeping the hands warm. They are a nice feature because they provide some heat without the awkward “loss of feeling” sensation that gloves cause. The inner sleeve cuffs are a very effective and stylish feature.
Adidas W Hiking Heldinnen Jacket Design
With its down filling and polyester material, the Adidas W Hiking Heldinnen Jacket is clearly designed for cold weather. My jacket came with a sticker on the inside that says “-40 degrees Celcius.” I took that to mean the coat can keep the body warm at that temperature. Needless to say, I haven’t taken her out to test that feature. Though the jacket is warm, I have trouble believing it’s designed for that climate, particularly given how lightweight it is.
The cut is fairly loose, leaving room for layering. I tested an XS and think that the coat runs slightly large. For my build, it could be a little shorter with a more fitted hood and slightly shorter sleeves. I also think a slimmer waste would make the fit more attractive. It does allow for additional layering when the temperatures do dip below zero.
The polyester material feels high quality and has a slight sheen that makes it look cutting edge, modern, and stylish. The narrow stitch lines give it a slimmer look than other down coats with wider stitching
The jacket zipper pockets are fantastic. There is one in each standard hand pocket location plus an inner chest pocket. The zippers make all of the pockets great for storage.
