Eddie Bauer has recently launched their FirstAscent line of product made not for weekend tailgaters but for serious outdoor adventurers. Some of the biggest names in mountaineering are part of the team developing and testing these products for Eddie Bauer. The Downlight Sweater is a super lightweight, 800-fill goose down jacket and one serious piece of equipment. This jacket is so light you might forget you have it on. The fact that you’re not freezing your butt off will remind you. We tested this jacket in some Colorado early-winter temps down to approx. 20 degrees in high winds and were amazed not to feel a chill at all. The fabric of the Downlight is soft and feels very thin and delicate to the touch but proved to be quite durable. Be sure to consult Eddie Bauer’s sizing chart before purchasing as we felt this piece to run a bit larger than other gear in this category. Overall, we were very impressed with the puch the Downlight Sweater packs in a featherweight package. For more information on the FirstAscent Downlight, visit www.eddiebauer.com.
