Perfect Timing For The Mountain Khakis Wilson Bomber Jacket
Mountain Khakis makes its home in Jackson Hole, Wyoming which conjures up images of cowboys, Yellowstone, Elk, and of course, very fine skiing. It’s an image that MK tries to live up to with a rugged and classic product line. I believe it is a look that one could call timeless. They have obviously targeted the outdoor and active crowd. They’ve even placed a flagship store right in my hometown of Denver in the heart of Downtown. Obviously, very urban, yet a lot of folks here have adopted that active lifestyle, and like to play in the abundance of outdoor activities that are available in our mountains.
When I think Mountain Khakis, it’s “All Mountain Pant” comes to mind. I’m thinking this Wilson Bomber Jacket would make a nice accessory.
Fit of the Mountain Khakis Wilson Bomber Jacket
I have a size Medium and this is considered their classic fit. It’s always a bit of a gamble when it comes to sizing, but mine fits perfectly. It’s a winter coat, so you do need some room to throw layers underneath. All the while, the Wilson Bomber Jacket fits stylishly and very comfortably. In the outdoor world, it seems the concern for lightweight is a strong driving factor. I’m happy to report that is NOT the case here. It feels heavy and warm (those are good things). I’ve been described as a “true” medium in most measurements except I’m slightly taller. This Bomber Jacket has enough length to not make that an issue. Hence, true to size is a good descriptor.
The exterior blend consists of 52% wool, 41% polyester, 3% polyamide, and 4% other fibers. Maybe it’s the unknown “other” fibers that are the secret to its smooth and silky touch? You can’t go wrong with wool for warmth and durability. I have not exposed the Mountain Khakis Wilson Bomber to rain or wet snow, but it’s been able to handle temperatures well into the teens.
Colorado’s front range usually does not have much of a fall season. There may be a few hiccups, but for the most part summer continues well into October. Before we know it though, Winter is upon us. I received the Jacket right at the end of October, and immediately saw action corralling a crew of kids on Halloween night. That’s probably not how you picture a product review seeing “action”, but it worked out fine for me. I’m not one to dress up, but stayed stylishly warm chasing ghouls and goblins (and unicorn princesses).
Features
- 4 Pockets
- Adjustable snap cuff closure
- Taffeta-lined sleeves for easy on/of
- Plaid flannel lining
- MK embroidery at back right shoulder
Two breast pockets have a couple of snap closures, and a nice clean simple logo.
The subtle interior pocket is really convenient to slide a wallet or phone into.
Two snaps on the cuffs to adjust as needed. The tightest enclosure would only be needed to really keep the wind out. The looser of the two snaps are my normal setting unless a thick sweater needs to come out.
The collar zipped up completely is my favorite way to sport this coat. Warm and snug (not too tight) to face the day.
Packaging was minimal, and the tag had a nice feature: “Re-use me as a bookmark.” I think I will. Thank you very much Mountain Khakis
Final Thoughts on the Mountain Khakis Wilson Mountain Bomber
Warmth is a key component for all my winter activities. The jacket does not have to breath, be lightweight, or be loaded down with extra pockets and nifty gadgets. It needs to be warm, and it does that admirably. The classic look is also a very adorning quality that I truly enjoy about this coat. Go skiing in highly advanced technical gear, but come Apres Ski or a night on the town, the Mountain Khakis Wilson Mountain Bomber will certainly be a stylish and cozy addition.
