ibex Woolies 150 Boxer Brief Review
Would you consider merino wool boxers something you need? Probably not. But would wearing a pair for a few weeks change your mind? It just might. The ibex Woolies 150 Boxer Brief may have just changed my mind. These are hands down the most comfortable performance underwear I have owned. The merino wool is soft to the touch and does not itch. They are also highly breathable and manage to maintain comfort even when wet.
Performance of the ibex Woolies 150 Boxer Brief
Underwear is a very personal purchase, for more reasons than one. And as I’m sure many of you can relate, most of the pairs I end up with have at least one problem area. Once on, the ibex Woolies Boxer Brief has managed to keep me happy on both short tempo runs and all-day outings. As would be expected from a merino wool boxer, the fabric has a luxuriously soft feel against the skin.
They feel great in both warm and cool temperatures, and do not restrict range of motion. Merino wool also has naturally odor resistant properties. Let me say that again, these boxers do not stink, even if you forget to wash them.

What do you mean they don’t stink?
There are a few drawbacks to this brief, however. The waistband is too tight and does not provide as much stretch as it should. This makes for an awkward half-second when getting dressed, which is something I can get over. The Woolies do come furnished with a fly, so you won’t have to do the awkward shuffle when out in the woods. If you are borderline when it comes to waist sizing, you will definitely want to go a size up.
Also, the ibex Woolies 150 Boxer Brief does not provide as much support in the crotch as a synthetic boxer would. The flipside is you aren’t uncomfortably squished.
When getting undressed after about 10 uses, I did tear the side of the leg. I have read similar complaints online about tears occurring after minimal use. As I attempted to pull these off from the middle of the leg, the waistband did not stretch over my hips and instead put all the pressure on the side of the boxer. It was a minor tear of about 1mm, but a concern nonetheless. I have since learned to always pull off from the waistband down.
Bottom Line
If you like nice gear and take care of it, the ibex Woolies 150 Boxer Brief is a great pick. However, if you end up trashing everything you own and don’t appreciate the finer things in life, I would stick to your regular Hanes briefs. These boxers are only worth the price if you are willing to treat them as an expensive pair of underwear.
