As The North Face Zephyrus Pullover has been a go-to piece of gear for me on many occasions, I feel I must share my thoughts on this piece. The Zephyrus pullover is a windproof Primoloft insulated jacket that is perfect for activities such as hiking, climbing, cold weather adventures, skiing, and camping. What makes this jacket so versatile in my mind is the performance level offered in relation to weight and size.

On colder ski days, the Zephyrus pullover is my favorite midweight layer. It offers me plenty of warmth and when I need range of motion, I feel the jacket moves with me instead of restricting my movement. When the day has a possibility of getting colder, the Zephyrus easily fits into any pack in case you want to add a layer later on in the day. On snowshoe outings, the North Face Zephyrus is typically all I wear as an outer layer. The material on the outside has a DWR finish that keeps melting snow from soaking through the jacket. When I started climbing uphill, this pullover has a 1/4 zip that is nice for venting. When the winds whip around and temperatures started to dip, the Primoloft insulation usually keeps me plenty warm. For camping and backpacking in the Rocky Mountains, the Zephyrus was also a go-to piece for me because it packs down so small and offers plenty of warmth.

As for the downside of this jacket, I found the pullover to smell like B/O pretty quickly after using it on all my activities. I would suggest to The North Face that they As far as sizing, I am 6’0 tall and about 180lbs and I found the Zephyrus to fit nicely, but I would not want it any smaller. If you are any bigger, I suggested sizing up to a large. The styling of the Zephyrus Pullover has a classic look and goes well with pretty much any outfit as far as casual outings go. It makes for a great around town jacket in the fall and early spring.

At it’s price point, you are well positioned to get your money out of this jacket if you used the jacket half as much as I did and do. As you might imagine with my previous comments, I am a big fan of the Zephyrus pullover and give it two big thumbs up!  For more information on the Zephyrus Pullover and other North Face products, please visit or

  • Great review, good detail! I've seen this pullover before and thought about getting it. I have a similar jacket, but it has a zip all the way up the front instead of being a pullover. The two are probably so similar I'll hold off and spend the money on something else. I'm almost exactly the same size as you, and find myself needing a large in my North Face gear. The body size of the medium fits me well, but the arms always come up a little short.
