New Balance Tonic Top Review
I’m not going to dance around it, I am absolutely in love with the New Balance Tonic Top. If I could wear it every day for every workout I would. The Tonic Top is a light to medium weight racer back tank featuring New Balance’s Lightening Dry polyester material, a built in bra, stow pocket, a racerback styling.
I am generally one for simplicity in my workout tops. Tanks are my favorite and I rarely go for a top with a stow pocket or built in bra. While the Tonic Top has these features, they aren’t what spurred my obsession with this top. The fit of this top is like nothing else I have found. The upper section over the chest is fitted, there is a flattering seam just below the bust line then the top flares just slightly while still following the natural body line. It isn’t loose fitting, but it isn’t tight either. The bottom hem hits below the hips to provide full coverage even when lift your arms up. The overall shape of the top provides an extremely flattering and slimming look.
The built in bra is more supportive than a standard shelf bra that comes in many workout tops, but I still would recommend another sports bra for high impact activities. The built in bra is light enough that wearing another one doesn’t feel bulky or uncomfortable. The Bra section also features a small pockets if you feel the need to add some padding to it.
The features on this top are very thoughtful. The stow pocket is built on to the side seam and is nearly invisible. While most looser fitting tops with stow pockets can bounce the placement of this on the seam around the hip line kept it from giggling around too much when running with keys or fuel in.
I like wearing this top for everything from running to lifting, and yoga to bootcamp. I have increased my laundry frequency just so I can wear this top multiple times per week. It is extremely versatile and even after lots of washes so far it is like new.
The Tonic Tank comes in multiple color combinations and patterns.
