When the temperatures rise this summer or you find yourself traveling to a warm climate, having a breathable, comfortable, and multi-functional pieces to pull from your closet or bag is key. Outdoor Research answers the call with the Flyway Tank. The Outdoor Research Flyway Tank offers up a versatile piece for casual around town use when paired with a skirt, while also answering the demands of a hike, run, yoga session, or pedal around town.
Outdoor Research Flyway Tank Fabric
The Flyway Tank utilizes drirelease® fabric, an 85% polyester and 15% cotton blend that is super soft to the touch. The fabric is lightweight and quick drying, making it ideal for hot weather activities. Despite multiple trips through the washer and dryer, the top look likes new without pilling or significant wear and tear. The top kept its shape and didn’t shrink with the dryer, but can also line dry quite quickly as well.
Outdoor Research offers the Flyway Tank in 3 summer inspired colors: Pewter with alloy (think turqouise), Adobe with bahama (orange/red), and Orchid with crocus (deep purple). My favorite is the Orchid with crocus, as I am on a purple kick this season.
Flyway Tank Fit
The Outdoor Research Flyway Tank is available in XS to XL. I tested out a size medium and felt that length and width ran true to size, based on their online size guide. The built in shelf bra may be a bit roomie for size A or A/B cupped women. The rouching around the cup area appears a bit awkward if you are a smaller size. I felt that the cup would be best suited for someone with a B or C cup. With that said, the shelf-bra does not offer a ton in the way of support. Therefore, those with B or C cups would likely benefit from adding a sports bra underneath. While I love the criss-cross back straps that loop through the front shoulder straps, they are challenging, or impossible, to match a sports bra underneath. If that doesn’t bother you, no problem. The photo believe highlights the mix-matching with the tank and sports bra. I really liked how the tank provides excellent coverage in the front with a small “v”, which offers some style without making you feel like you are exposing anything while on the move.
The Flyway Tank retails for 49.99 and has been holding its’ value with lots of use this summer. Please visit OutdoorResearch.com or www.amazon.com/outdoorresearch for more information on this top and other great products.
