For me, a sports bra is either a hit or miss, there is no in between, and the Lucy Girls Best Friend Bra definitely falls into the hit category. This sports bra, the most supportive of their line, highlights the research and attention to detail that Lucy put into creating it.
The Girls Best Friend bra is designed for high-impact activities with maximum support for medium to large busted women in mind. With structured, lightly padded cups this sports bra holds everything in place without constricting or flattening. The cups are soft enough to allow for a natural shape and have a strong mesh material with very little stretch between the cups and around the sides to provide for ventilation. Personally, I found that the cups on the Girls Best Friend bra provided every bit of support I needed, but I hardly noticed them which is rarely the case on a sports bra that provides this much support.
Lucy Girls Best Friend Bra Features
The Lucy Girls Best Friend sports bra also features wide, slightly padded, contoured straps that added to the overall support and stability of the bra. The straps didn’t slide, pinch, rub, or dig into my shoulders regardless of whether I was running for hours, box jumping, or doing pull-ups. They also weren’t too bulky and had bonded seams so they were comfortable under the straps of a hydration pack on long trail runs. The straps are adjustable in the back allowing for a more tailored fit. As a shorter person, adjustable straps are a must, and while these didn’t adjust a lot, it was plenty to meet my needs. The elastic band below the bust around the ribs is also adjustable via a hook and eye closure with three size options.
Again, all of the seams on the band are either flatlock or bonded preventing chafing. I haven’t had the chance to wear the Girls Best Friend Bra in very hot or humid conditions, but I have gotten plenty sweaty during high intensity strength and conditioning workouts and 2 hour runs and not a bit of chafing yet.
While not the most efficient at moisture wicking or breathability, the Lucy Girls Best Friend Bra still beat most every other sports bra I have tried that has comparable support and design features. I would not give up any of the support, stability, or comfort for a little bit of added breathability.
Final Thoughts
I cannot say enough about how thoughtfully the Girls Best Friend Bra is constructed. It is so comfortable that I don’t feel the need to peel it off immediately after a workout just so I feel like I can breath. I have been loyal to one specific brand of sports bra for years and this is the first new one to push its way into my regular rotation.
The Lucy Girls Best Friend Bra comes in black and nude in sizes 34B to 38DD.
