But, their dream was to develop their own brand—the best-made product that people would value to the point of asking for it by name, which would result in repeat sales and publicity from word of mouth. In 1980, a few years after his father’s passing, Jim realized their dream when he invented Thorlos, originally conceived to be the most protective, sport-specific athletic sock.
