The prAna Meryl Sweater Dress is a hooded dress that offers up a cozy option for work, play, or travel. The Meryl Sweater Dress is available in two color combinations in a zigzag pattern; black with gray and white or brown with two hues of orange. The Meryl Sweater Dress is made of 60% cotton and 40% acrylic and is the ideal weight to keep you warm without weighing you down. The sleeve and hem features a solid band of color to add a bit more style.
The Meryl Dress runs a full size smaller when compared to prAna dresses that I have tested in the years past. I ordered a size up based on other reviews that I had read and was pleased with my decision. The Meryl Dress features a length of 34.5″ for the size small, measured from the top shoulder to the bottom hem. I am just under 5’9″ and as you can see the dress hits well above my knees, about 6 inches. The length may be too short for some situations, however I paired the dress with dark brown opaque sweater tights and felt comfortable with the length and coverage.
As for caring for the Meryl Dress, I have been flipping it inside out to prevent snagging, washing on cold, line drying, and then tossing in the dryer for a few minutes to soften it up. So far, the dress has held up with a few washes, but like all sweater dresses it can be a challenge to retain its’ original shape. The Meryl Dress is definitely not an easy to care for item.
The Meryl Dress features a hood to add a bit of fun. The hood can also be used in a pinch, as it is not just for looks and actually fits appropriately when pulled up.
Unfortunately, the price tag of the Meryl Dress is a bit steep. The dress is well made, however for that price I would hope to have maybe a touch of merino wool as a fabric ingredient, to provide long lasting comfort. For more information visit www.prAna.com or www.amazon.com/prana.
