Loeka Freeride Shorts Review
Looking for a short that performs climbing uphill, bombing downhill, hopping rocks or commuting to work? Then the Loeka Freeride is the perfect shorts for you. Designed by Coreena Fletcher, a woman’s downhill racer, the clothes are built and tested over and over to make sure they fit the woman’s body. The clothes are meant to make the female rider look and feel sexy but with all the performance they need and want.
A must to any female mountain biker’s wardrobe, the pinstripes add some femininity usually missing from most mtn bike clothes but also says I am here to ride. The polyester material allows freedom of movement and holds up to snags from trees on the narrow singletrack in Keystone, to the abrasive rocks of Moab and all the dirt crashes in between.
The side zipper vents were awesome for keeping us cool while the sun beat down on the dusty trail. The 100% polyester mesh lining also wicked away moisture and kept us dry even when riding in the heat of the day or during those white knuckle death grip on the breaks situations that cause you to sweat.
The shorts dry quickly, making them especially great if you get caught in an unexpected rain shower or if you are camping and hang them to dry.
Though we had no need for them, there are belt loops if you like a tighter fit. The side zip pocket is a nice feature on the shorts especially since most mountain bike jerseys don’t have any. The placement of the pocket is perfect even for carrying keys that we noticed didn’t rub or impede pedal stroke or stick to our leg.
A stretch panel located on the back of the shorts came in handy when I needed to bend over to adjust the tightness of my bike shoes. It allowed me to easily lean over without exposing any extra skin. It sure comes in handy on those cooler and windy days to keep from exposure to the wind as well.
The Freeride comes in two length styles: regular (slightly above the knee) and capri (just below the knee) and ranges in sizes from XS-XL. The regular length retails for $94.99 CDN and the capri length for $104.99. To find out more about this Canadian based company head to loeka.com.
