You might wonder how this product review gig works. Most of the time, product is sent to product reviewers. But I lucked out because I needed to exchange some Pearl Izumi mountain bike shoes and it just so happens that Pearl Izumi is just down the road from my house. So, I met the very nice guy from Pearl Izumi and he said, “Hey, do you need some gloves?” Of course I do! So here are my thoughts on the Divide and Impact Gloves.
The Impact gloves are unique for me; there is no Velcro closure. You just pull them on. At first I was skeptical but I loved them. They are easy on and easy off and bonus; there is no Velcro to snag my clothing. Pearl Izumi classifies these as all mountain(shred ready) gloves. There is light padding in the palm and a low profile super soft thumb (for wiping your nose). The fingers are silicone screened so they have just the right amount of grip. And although they are a full finger glove, they breathe well and let the moisture out as you work up a sweat. The gloves come in three colors; black, green flash and peacock (turquoise). All three have a nice design.
The Divide gloves are more traditional with a Velcro closure. There is less padding in the palm but more raised material for good gripping and comfort. These gloves are classified at cross country (epic ride ready). The Divide glove also has a low profile soft and cozy thumb which we all use for wiping our noses and sweat from our face. This glove is similar in that the fingers are silicone screened for improved grip and they are full fingered and highly breathable. I have the pink color. The website shows that they also come in black and shadow grey/blue jewel.
Both of these gloves are great. It’s nice to have a few pairs in your bag just in case you spill a gel pack all over one of them. Not that I would know anything about that.
