The Pearl Izumi Divide Jersey and Shorts are comfortable and they match! Confession: I’ve never worn a matching jersey and short set. I am a mountain biker and so if anything, I try to look casual. Like I didn’t try to look good, it just happened. And so I was a bit weary but kind of impressed.
These shorts are very comfortable and very baggy. They have a wide waist band with two snaps and a zipper. There are two roomy and deep pockets in the front and two low pockets in the back. The pockets in the back are open (not fastened). I wish they had a zippered pocket. It’s nice to be able to keep things secure. The Divide shorts come with a detachable chamois. The mountain bike 3D chamois® is comfortable and adequate without it feeling bulky. I wore these shorts on both short and longer rides (5+ hours). The shorts have an adjustable waist which was needed in my case. I generally wear size small in Pearl Izumi bike shorts but these are big so I recommend trying them on before you buy or sizing down. I appreciate the opportunity to self size to fit but when I adjusted them, they looked blouse-y. I think I need an XS and then they would be perfect. They are very stretchy which is great for comfort but also for when you want to stretch out behind your saddle on a downhill stretch. These shorts have a 9” inseam. The shorts come in two colors; black and black/kaleidoscope.
The Divide Jersey is silt colored (think olive green) with just enough kaleidoscope to match the shorts. It has a 12 inch zipper up the middle—which is great for ventilation. The jersey is semi-form fitted which makes for a comfortable long day on the bike. The material is lightweight and the back of the jersey is cut longer to make sure your precious backside is protected from the sun. This jersey also comes in pink punch/kaleidoscope, peacock (turquoise)/kaleidoscope and black/kaleidoscope. There is one zippered pocket perfectly sized for a gel pack, your music or a small map. The jersey was a bit short in the front. And I am 5’3” and short waisted so I suggest trying it on to be sure if covers to your comfort.
Overall, the Divide jersey and shorts are a great addition to your bike clothes drawer. Comfortable and lightweight; these lightweight shorts and jersey should take a few seconds off your next race finish time.
