As an enthusiast of electric scooters, I have had the pleasure of trying out various models, and the Hiboy brand has never disappointed me. Having previously reviewed the Hiboy S2R Plus Electric Scooter, I was eager to test out their latest release, the Hiboy Max Pro Electric Scooter, which hit the market on July 20th. Known for their quality and reliability since 2014, Hiboy offers a wide range of scooters and electric bikes designed to cater to individual needs. The Hiboy Max Pro, in particular, caught my attention with its powerful performance and impressive specifications, including large 11-inch pneumatic tires and a remarkable 46-mile range on a single charge. Lets dive into the review of this feature-packed electric scooter.
Assembly of the Hiboy MAX Pro Electric Scooter
I was greeted with a well-packaged box and ample foam protection for all the components. The assembly process was straightforward, with clear instructions provided in the package. I found the design of the handlebar tubes intriguing, as they were cleverly shaped to ensure functionality even if the bolts were to loosen over time. The use of eight screws to secure the handlebars, along with pre-applied threadlock, instilled confidence in a sturdy and secure fit.

Hiboy MAX Pro Electric Scooter Charging
The Hiboy Max Pro is equipped with a large capacity 48V 15Ah Li-ion battery, providing an impressive advertised range of up to 46.6 miles on a single charge. Charging the scooter takes between 8 to 9 hours, and the charging port’s rubber flap effectively keeps dust and dirt at bay. However, it’s important to note that the scooter’s waterproof rating is IPX4, meaning it’s not recommended for use on rainy days.
Hiboy MAX Pro Electric Scooter Dual Brake System
Riding with confidence is of utmost importance, and the Max Pro ensures that with its responsive dual brake system, similar to those found on bikes. The front and rear brakes offer excellent stopping power, though I found some minor adjustments necessary to achieve the firmness I preferred after the initial break in period.
Hiboy MAX Pro Electric Scooter Shock Absorbers
The Max Pro’s suspension system, coupled with its 11-inch air-filled tires, delivers a comfortable and smooth riding experience. While the scooter adeptly absorbs bumps, it’s essential to remember that no scooter can provide a perfectly seamless ride. I observed that the rear suspension moved slightly only after I mounted the scooter, while the front suspension offered a travel range of approximately 18mm.
Hiboy MAX Pro Electric Scooter 3 Riding Modes
Power, Performance, and Savings are the three distinct riding modes, which allows the Max Pro to cater to various preferences and needs. The Sport mode has a max speed of 22 mph, while the Drive mode offers a still impressive 16 mph. Lastly, the ECO mode prioritizes energy-saving, providing a max speed of 11 mph. Throughout my testing, I found the speedometer to be fairly accurate, with only a negligible difference between the displayed speed and my GPS readings.
Hiboy MAX Pro Electric Scooter Widened Deck Design
The Max Pro’s expanded deck enhances standing comfort, boasting an anti-slip design to ensure a secure grip. Measuring 20 inches in length and 8 inches in width, the deck also features a hole to accommodate an optional seat. The extra width provides ample space to comfortably place both feet side by side, a welcome feature during long rides. This is by far the widest deck of any other scooter that I have previously tested.

One-Step Fold
The Max Pro’s one-click folding feature allows for quick and easy folding, making carrying and storage a breeze. However, I must mention that the folding mechanism differs from other scooters, requiring a two-hand operation and additional bending down to align and engage the rear lock properly. This design aspect might benefit from some improvement for a smoother folding experience. I prefer the design that is found on my Hiboy S2R Plus scooter. It allow me to fold the scooter using one hand operation.
Hiboy MAX Pro Electric Scooter Riding Experience
Beach Trip
Embarking on my first journey with the scooter, a 6-mile ride from a local park to Lake Michigan beach, I felt excited. What made the ride even more enjoyable was the fact that my kids joined in on the adventure, riding alongside me on their own scooters. We formed a mini scooter convoy, adding an element of fun and camaraderie to the experience.
As we zipped along the path, I couldn’t help but notice the convenience provided by the Hiboy Waterproof Scooter PU Storage Bag. This accessory proved to be an essential addition, offering a secure and easily accessible storage solution. The bag snugly wrapped around the handlebars and front tube, effortlessly accommodating my phone, lock, and other essential items. With this nifty storage bag, I no longer had to worry about juggling loose belongings in my pockets while riding.
Camping Adventure
Our camping adventure at a private campground in White Cloud, Michigan, turned into a thrilling scooter showdown. With my kids and their friends, we had a fleet of five scooters, each representing a different model. Among them were the Gotrax G5, Hiboy S2R Plus, Hiboy S2 Lite, and the Segway Ninebot (though I couldn’t quite recall the specific model). However, the standout star of the show was undoubtedly the Hiboy Max Pro Electric Scooter. Its imposing size, wide deck, and blazing fast top speed set it apart from the rest.
Throughout our camping trip, the Max Pro’s impressive battery life and performance made it the go-to choice for everyone, regardless of age. From kids to adults, we all had a blast riding it around the campground, zipping back and forth between the pool, the playground, and our camping spots. Its ability to outpace the competition effortlessly turned it into the undisputed favorite among the scooters.
One feature that caught everyone’s attention was the scooter’s lighting system. As the sun set and darkness crept in, the Max Pro’s headlight, tail light, and side lights lit up, providing excellent visibility for nighttime riding. Not only did they enhance safety, but they also added a stylish touch to the scooter’s design.
Even my father-in-law, who is an avid racing enthusiast, was captivated by the Max Pro’s performance. He saw the potential of using it at the race track, where it could make his life easier by swiftly transporting him between the starting line and the pits. So impressed was he with the scooter that he is now seriously considering purchasing one for himself.
As the camping trip came to an end, we all agreed that the Max Pro had truly elevated our experience. Its dominating presence, exceptional speed, and long-lasting battery made it a remarkable companion for outdoor adventures. With the added bonus of its impressive lighting system, the Max Pro proved to be more than just a scooter; it was a source of joy and excitement for the whole group.

S2R Plus vs MAX Pro
Battery Capacity and Range
I couldn’t wait to put the Hiboy Max Pro’s battery capacity and range to the test. With its impressive claim of a 46-mile range, I set out on a real-world ride to truly understand what this scooter was capable of.
Opting for a challenging 19-mile journey in Sport mode, I was determined to push the Max Pro to its limits. Cruising at maximum speed and taking advantage of the convenient cruise control feature, I embarked on a thrilling adventure. From the get-go, the scooter’s powerful motor delivered a smooth and consistent ride, instilling confidence in its capabilities.
Throughout the ride, I kept a keen eye on the battery indicator, eagerly watching its performance. I must say, the Max Pro’s battery endurance exceeded my expectations. Despite the demanding journey, the battery held its ground and maintained its power throughout. As I completed the 19-mile ride, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I still had approximately 20% battery life left.
While my results didn’t quite reach the advertised 46-mile range, it’s essential to recognize the impact of real-world conditions on battery performance. Factors such as rider weight, riding habits, terrain, travel speed, and weather all play a significant role in the overall performance of an electric scooter. Considering these factors, the Max Pro showcased admirable reliability and endurance during my test ride.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that in eco mode, traveling at a slower speed, the battery’s life would likely be extended even further. So, while the Max Pro may not always achieve its maximum range, it undeniably demonstrates its dependability and longevity in challenging riding scenarios.
During my 19-mile test ride, I also took the opportunity to perform acceleration tests with the Hiboy Max Pro. Covering a distance of approximately 1.5 miles, I compared its acceleration against the Hiboy S2R Plus, another electric scooter I had previously reviewed. The results were impressive, as the Max Pro proved to be faster and more responsive in its acceleration.

The Max Pro’s powerful 500W motor showcased its capability, effortlessly propelling me forward with swift acceleration. In comparison, the Hiboy S2R Plus, while still a solid performer, couldn’t match the Max Pro’s speed and responsiveness. The difference in acceleration was noticeable, and it further highlighted the Max Pro’s high-performance nature.
