When Lucyd reached out to me for the opportunity to review their latest Sundrop summer collection of Bluetooth sunglasses, I was excited. Lucid Lyte Bluetooth sunglasses is precisely the kind of tech innovation that I love, seamlessly blending two essential items into one, simplifying daily life, and offering practical features. Among the array of options, I selected the Voyager frame with sea green gradient lenses.
Lucid Lyte Bluetooth Sunglasses Design and Aesthetics
Let’s admit it, sunglasses are a matter of personal style, and preferences vary widely. Fortunately, Lucyd caters to diverse tastes with a wide range of frame and lens options. Personally, I find the Lucyd Voyager frame design exceptionally stylish. It provides a contemporary twist on the classic aviator style. The high-gloss black frame, while visually appealing, does tend to showcase smudges and fingerprints. It would be nice if they offered a more matte version that a customer could choose. The sea green gradient lenses offer a uniform transition of color. The shade of green is subtle, not overpowering. The sunglasses’ temples, housing the electronics, are slightly chunky but well within the trend of today’s chunkier frame styles. These sunglasses seamlessly blend in with the fashion scene and don’t scream “Bluetooth sunglasses” to onlookers.
Lucid Lyte Bluetooth sunglasses Audio Quality
One of the critical aspects of any speaker system is the quality of sound it delivers. Understandably, the Lucyd Lyte Bluetooth sunglasses, given their design, won’t rival high-end earbuds or over-ear headphones in sound quality, as they don’t sit directly in your ears. If you were to hold earbuds an inch away from your ears, they would sound subpar. That said, the sound quality here was surprisingly impressive. Voices came through clear and true. These sunglasses may not satisfy audiophiles seeking top-tier music or movie sound quality, but for listening to news, podcasts, or general use, the sound quality proves more than adequate.
Lucid Lyte Bluetooth sunglasses Features
The Lucyd Lyte Bluetooth sunglasses boast built-in dual noise-canceling microphones, providing crisp sound quality during phone calls. People on the other end of the line reported hearing me loud and clear, with minimal background noise. The lenses are of good quality and are polarized UV400. Additionally, these sunglasses are rated IP56, making them splashproof. While they can handle light rain, they shouldn’t be submerged underwater. As a bonus, Lucyd provided a very nice and protective case to store your sunglasses.
Lucid App
Lucyd sunglasses are integrated with ChatGPT, offering a convenient way to interact with a virtual assistant, much like Alexa or Siri. While I didn’t extensively explore this feature, it’s easy to use and a valuable addition, allowing users to communicate verbally without the need for typing. Simply download the Lucyd app on your iOS or Android device, and for iPhone/iPad users, ChatGPT can also be accessed through Siri.
Lucid Lyte Bluetooth sunglasses Fit and Comfort
Although these sunglasses are marketed for men with medium to large heads and women seeking an oversized look, I encountered a minor issue. Despite my larger head size (I typically require extra-large helmets for various activities), the glasses felt a tad narrow, causing some discomfort after about three hours of use. Nevertheless, the nose piece was comfortable, and the glasses stayed very securely on my face, eliminating the need for constant adjustments like some of my other pairs. Additionally, the weight of these glasses was never noticeable while using them. I measured my pair at 1.6oz which considering all of the electronics inside, is not very heavy.
Dimensions
Lucyd provides detailed dimensions for all their frame styles, aiding customers in selecting the perfect fit. For the Lucid Voyager sunglasses:
- Frame Width: 140 mm
- Lens Width: 54 mm
- Bridge: 16 mm
- Temple Length: 145 mm
Lucid Lyte Bluetooth sunglasses Functionality
The Bluetooth range of these sunglasses is very good. I was able to leave my phone anywhere in my house and maintain a reliable connection as I moved around. Lucyd advertises a 100-foot range. The sunglasses feature dual control buttons which are user-friendly, allowing easy control of playback and volume directly from the glasses, eliminating the need to retrieve your phone from your pocket which was a feature that I really enjoyed. However, it’s worth noting that while the maximum volume sufficed for most situations, I wished it could be slightly louder. During a visit to a park with a children’s event, moderate ambient noise occasionally made it challenging to hear my audio content.
The battery life was very good. I got about eight hours of continuous use at a high-volume level listening to a mix of content on YouTube. To get back up and running it only takes two hours to charge them back to full.
Summary
In summary, I’m highly impressed with this product. While there are a few areas for improvement, such as offering a larger frame option for individuals with larger heads, increasing the maximum volume and offering a matte finish on the frame, the advantages significantly outweigh the drawbacks. These glasses are very versatile and will appeal to a wide range of users. Lucyd’s new Sundrop collection offers a variety of lens colors to choose from.
