The Shokz OpenRun Pro Headphones are a great choice for fitness enthusiasts looking for high-quality headphones that won’t compromise situational awareness. These headphones use bone conduction technology to deliver sound through the cheekbones, rather than blocking the ears. This allows the user to stay aware of their surroundings, making them ideal for outdoor activities such as running, cycling, and hiking.

Unboxing the Shokz OpenRun Pro Headphones

Shokz OpenRun Pro Fit and Comfort

One of the most impressive features of the Shokz OpenRun Pro Headphones is their design and comfort. The full-wraparound titanium band and frame provide a secure and comfortable fit, even during intense workouts. The open-ear design of the headphones ensures all-day comfort and allows you to stay aware of your surroundings. This is especially important for outdoor activities, where hearing the sounds around you can be critical to your safety. During testing I was able to listen to music and still be aware of my surroundings.

During my testing period, I was also happy to see how secure the headphones felt on my head. I did not feel like I needed to adjust them at any time. However, I did encounter some difficulties when wearing the headphones with a hat. The wrap-around design of the headphones made it a bit challenging to wear a hat on top of them. Depending on the type of hat, it could be a bit of a problem combining the headphones with some winter headwear. Additionally, I would like to point out that the headphones are not comfortable to wear while trying to relax on a couch. Personally, I would not use these headphones for any other reason than to listen to music during workouts while also being aware of my surroundings. In my opinion that is the purpose of these headphones. If you are looking for something other than that these headphones may not be for you.

Shokz OpenRun Pro Sound Quality

The adjustable volume settings and multifunction’s are another standout feature of these headphones. The volume controls located directly on the headphones allow you to find the perfect balance between enjoying your music and being aware of traffic and other sounds around you. This feature proved especially useful when running with friends and my furry companion. When I was alone, I kept the volume between 60% and 75%. This provided a perfect blend of music and situational awareness while I was running in the woods. The only time when I had the volume at 100% occurred while I was talking to someone who had me on their car’s phone system.

Of course, sound quality is paramount when it comes to headphones, and the Shokz OpenRun Pro headphones deliver crystal-clear audio. Their 9th generation bone conduction technology delivers audio through your cheekbones, providing an immersive and deep listening experience. The added bass enhancers provide incredible depth to your music, making every beat feel even more impactful. I was impressed with the sound quality of these headphones and found that the volume was consistent and of high quality. Additionally, Shokz offers a phone app that allows users to adjust equalizer settings to get the sound perfect for each listener.

Shokz OpenRun Pro Battery Life

Battery life is another significant consideration, and the OpenRun Pro headphones don’t disappoint in this regard. With up to 10 hours of music and calls on a single charge, these headphones are perfect for even the longest training sessions. Additionally, the quick charge feature provides up to 1.5 hours of battery life in just five minutes, so you can always be ready to go, no matter how busy your schedule is. While testing I obtained 8.5+ hours of battery life before needing to recharge. This time was spent listening to music and talking on the phone. Perhaps even more impressive than the battery life is the quick charge capability. Just 5 minutes of charging provides enough juice to run the headphones for 1.5hours. I was able to verify the charging capability of the headphones when I charged in the in my truck for 20 minutes and the battery status indicated full charge. The charger has a strong magnetic end that snaps right into the headphones making the connection instant and secure.

Durability is essential when it comes to workout headphones, and the OpenRun Pro headphones are built to last. They’re IP55 water-resistant, meaning they can withstand rainy runs, sweaty rides, and other tough conditions. The titanium band and frame also provide a secure and durable fit, even during the most intense workouts. I wore these headphones on 1+hour bike stationary bike rides where I was completely drenched from sweat. I also wore these while running outside while it was snowing. During testing I did not have problems with water affecting the performance of the headphones.
