Tenkara Rod Co. Teton Zoom

Tenkara is a Japanese style of fly fishing that dates back hundreds of years and pre dates the Western or traditional form of fly fishing (with a reel and loading line) that we know now. It involves a long rod usually 8-13 feet in length, a very lightweight fixed line, tippet and flies. There is no reel in Tenkara. This makes it much easier to learn because it helps you focus on the fly and not the line. The most universal and best starter Tenkara rod that we have found is the Teton Zoom from the Tenkara Rod Co. It is an adjustable length Tenkara rod, which allows you to fish at both 10.5 ft. and 12 ft lengths. At the 10.5 feet length, it gives you a softer, more responsive experience, ideal for smaller fish and streams. At 12 feet length, it provides a stiffer shaft to tackle larger fish and cast longer distances. Tenkara fishing is a lot fun and easy enough for anyone to take up, especially with the Tenkara Rod Co. Teton Zoom. The Teton Zoom Full Kit includes everything you need to start: The Teton Zoom Rod, rod tube, and rod sock, 10.5 ft furled Tenkara line, 3 tenkara flies, wood line holder, 5x tippet and a lifetime warranty. MSRP $245 www.tenkararodco.com

The quick adjust ©-Fit™ hood stays put on windy wet runs and the inner fuel/glove/etc compartment pockets allow you to stow items for quick access. The technical fit and durable material lets us move unrestricted and carefree through whatever our adventure of the day asks of us. MSRP $400 www.cieleathletics.com/shop
