The rock&tones emphasize heel to toe walking thanks to a rocker board design that engages the muscles of your legs and backside. These shoes are designed for fitness walking and everyday wear to increase muscle activity by up to 27% which can increase calorie burn by up to 8%.
Not only will you be increasing your muscle activity and calorie burn, testers found these shoes to be incredibly comfortable. Additionally, New Balance designed the rock&tones to be sleeker and slimmer than other toning shoes that are on the market. The 1442’s are styled after the 442’s, also by New Balance, and aim to be fashionable as well as functional. They reminded me of the classic 990 series that has regained popularity.
The composition of this rounded, soft, lightweight bottom promotes muscle tone from your glutes to your calves. These lightweight shoes, weighing only 9 oz., helps you get fit as you go throughout your day! I wouldn’t recommend these as a post run trainer because your muscles will be asked to work harder in these shoes and you may get more of a work out than you planned for. These shoes, however, would be great for an off day where you want to get a little more out of your walk to the grocery store or walk with the dogs.
