Sorel Lolla Chelsea Boot in Quarry
Sorel is a common household brand when it comes to winter boots. Many people may not know that Sorel has more to offer than rugged waterproof winter boots. Over the years, Sorel has continued to also provide comfortable, casual boots that protect from the elements with a flare of fashion. The Lolla Chelsea Boot is a women’s specific boot from the Lolla line up, which also features (from tall to short) the Lolla Tall II Boot, Lolla Bootie, Lolla Cut-Out Bootie. The Lolla Chelsea Boot is a medium rise slip on boot and will be featured in this review.
Casual Boot Prepared for the Elements
The Sorel Lolla Chelsea Boot not only looks great with a pair of pants/jeans, dresses, or leggings, but also delivers protection from the elements in the process. The Lolla Chelsea Boot combines fashion and function in a pull on boot that is easy to slip on and off thanks to hidden stretch panels along the sides that are integrated into the vertical panels along the both sides of the ankles. The Lolla Chelsea Boot also features a leather loop along the top to help you pull them on without smashing the back of the boot. The first few times they were stiff to get on and off, but this gets easier as the leather softens.
If you find yourself in wet weather, such as rain, slush, or snow, the Lolla Chelsea Boot will keep you dry thanks to waterproof full-grain leather. The outsole features sticky rubber for traction and the heal has two large grooves to prevent slipping or ice build up. I live in a mountain town that sees snow from November to sometime May; these boots have been in use for quick dog walks before work, walks downtown for happy hour in less than ideal conditions, and 10-12 days of go-go-go at work. My feet stay warm in these boots when temps are in the teens to 20s (as long as I am moving) thanks to the addition of a canvas and pigskin lining. Anything colder, or if I’m standing still, I opt for my Sorel Joan of the Arctic boots that feature insulation.
Sorel Lolla Chelsea Boot Fit
The Sorel Lolla Chelsea Boot is available in half sizes from 5-10.5 and size 11 and 12. The Sorel Lolla Chelsea Boot fit is similar to other boots within Sorel’s flat-tall-wedge-and bootie collections. Sorel rain and snow boots have a loose fit, with roomier toe boxes and give you the ability to wear thick socks with them. The Sorel Lolla Chelsea Boot has a more traditional fit and I encourage you to either try them on in person or measure your foot, following the instructions here and match your measurement with the US size.
In addition to the Sorel Lolla Chelsea Boot, I have also worn the Sorel Major Carly, Emelie Chelsea, and Emelie Conquest Boot. I have worn the same size in each of these boots (size 9) and believe they run true to the size guide. Please note, these boots are narrower in the toe and heel than snow and rain boots, as mentioned above. If you have wide feet, I encourage you to visit your local shop and purchase in person to ensure a precise fit.
The Sorel Lolla Chelsea Boot takes very little time to break in. During my first week with them, I wore them for 4 out of 5 days at work, with 75% of the time on my feet and moving around. I didn’t experience hot spots or rubbing when wearing medium weight Smartwool socks (my favorite for work). Sorel includes a molded EVA footbed with mild arch support; the footbed stays in place within the boot. The midsole and outsole is made from molder rubber, which remains lightweight but also supportive and durable. On an average day, I cover about 10-12,000 steps in my “work shoes” and felt these provided all day comfort.
