Patagonia Nine Trails Shorts Review
When you’re putting miles in on the trail, the Patagonia Nine Trails Shorts are a great piece of apparel to have in your arsenal. The Nine Trails Shorts are made up of a recycled polyester/spandex stretch-woven blend that is durable, breathable and comfortable.
Slipping into the shorts gives you a nice sense of comfort with the 4-way stretch material. The lightweight polyester fabric stretches for complete freedom of movement. The built-in liner is soft and adequately supportive. The liner is breathable, moisture-wicking, and odor resistant thanks to a microdenier polyester crepe with Polygiene. The Nine Trails Shorts have an elastic waistband that gives an already good fit but can also be cinched tighter with the flat-knit drawcord, that lays flat against your skin. The shorts fit well both at the waist and through the leg.
The Nine Trails Shorts do a great job of preventing chafing and keeping you cool by venting excess heat with the quick-drying, recycled polyester Air Flow mesh fabric in the crotch and side panels. The shorts also have the DWR (durable water repellent) finish that moves and repels even more moisture, decreasing drying times. The DWR finish keeps the outer fabric from becoming saturated so that the breathable barrier can do its job.
Three zippered pockets! That’s right, all three pockets close with zippers, two in the front and one on the back right side. Storage is perfect for a trail running short. The front pockets can accommodate items as large as a cell phone or hydration flask. The rear pocket is a bit smaller, but can still fit a cell phone. Optimally the pockets are best for small nutrition, gels, keys or cash that gives a bounce free run. Finally, pockets as they should be, zipped!
