New Balance 1225 Review
The New Balance 1225 is the latest update to New Balance’s top of the line super-cushioned stability shoe. This shoe is redesigned from the ground up for this year and includes all of New Balance’s most tech-ey features. The core of this shoe is the medial post (slightly more firm midsole material on the inside of the shoe) which is made of a new material NB calls Stabilicore. New Balance boasts that this system provides a much more smooth transition from heel to toe, and our testers agreed- this shoe provides great stability without feeling clunky.
The New Balance 1225 also utilizes N-ERGY material in the heel and forefoot which is a translucent rubber material that gives this shoe an exceptional ride with amazing cushioning and energy return. One of our testers remarked that this shoe’s midsole feels like a super responsive layer of those little bouncy balls!
The outsole of this shoe is made up of totally separate pods with deep flex grooves which makes it quite flexible. The upper features the N-Lock system which links the laces to the sole of the shoe and integrates with the N logo. This system gives the shoe a very secure fit across the midfoot. The nubby Surelaces always stay tied and wont loosen during your weekend long run.
Overall, our testing revealed the New Balance 1225 to be a superior shoe for all runners looking for an amazingly well-cushioned shoe with moderate stability. At only 120z., its fairly light weight as well. We think this is quite possibly the best stability shoe on the market today.
