To run in the Saucony Kinvara is like running on top of puffy clouds, if only we could run on clouds. While many companies find it difficult to balance cushioning and weight in racing and lightweight trainers, Saucony has been able to get the right balance and then some with the Kinvara. To reduce weight, the Kinvara has strategically placed EVA padding in the heel cup allowing for just enough support and cushioning to keep your foot in the shoe while blazing the streets. The upper is comprised of mesh and a finely weaved plastic outer to give the shoe a little structure while keep out rocks and helping keep the shoe super light on your feet. We tested these shoes in mid distance road races and speed workouts and for neutral runners, these shoes were an instant hit with testers. The only concern we would have with this shoe is the life of the shoe as it is super soft and has potential to break down fast, but this is fairly common with most race shoes. So, if you’re in the market for a lightweight flat or trainer, we highly recommend you adding this shoe to your “must checkout” list.
