Bottom Line on the Saucony Triumph ISO 2
The Saucony Triumph ISO 2 is one of the most trustworthy and cushioned running shoes on the market. If you’re in a hurry, the skinny of this running shoe is that it is a great cushioned road running shoe worth the $150 price tag. I’ve put over 300 miles in this shoe and can’t find one flaw.
EVERUN Cushioning
Saucony touts a new EVA called EVERUN and you’ll see a lot of magazines, websites, and blogs, and retailers trying to hype it up. Brands consistently try to hype their cushioning platform such as EVA, but it is rare that they actually change the way in which we run. While I would love to say the EVERUN midsole is amazing, I have to admit, it has a similar ride to most other running shoe midsoles on the market.
For those interested in what Saucony is saying about EVERUN, Saucony is saying it’s lively and responsive foam cushioning. Yes, that is a lot of marketing in one short sentence. I had a hard time finding the lively and responsive feel compared to other running shoes in the cushioned category.
It also claims to be 33% lighter than standard blown rubber, although when compared to a similar competitor such as the Brooks Glycerin 13 which weighs 11.3 oz. vs. the Saucony Triumph ISO 2 which weighs 10.2 oz, that is a difference of 1.1 oz. The Triumph ISO 2 is lightweight when you pick it up and when you put it on your foot. It is noticeably light on both short and long runs, which is always welcomed in my book.
First Try On
When I first tried on the shoe, I thought it fit sloppy. After two miles, the shoe began to mold around my foot like a leather glove you’ve been wearing for years. This has not changed after the 2nd or 3rd mile of running in these shoes. One thing that it also noticeable is the cushioning on the inside of the shoe. This shoe is extremely plush on the inside which provides keeps your foot nice and secure while running, in addition to the the obvious of being comfortable.
Running Shoe Fit
The Saucony Triumph ISO 2 fit is best for a medium sized foot. This shoe doesn’t have additional width options, but it will accommodate a foot that is slightly wide. The upper does a great job of keeping the foot in place while running with no hot spots to speak of.
Should You Buy the Saucony Triumph ISO 2?
I can typically find something wrong with almost any product I test. The Saucony Triumph 2 stumped me in that their are no improvements needed in this road running shoe. If it’s a cushioned running shoe you’re looking for the Saucony Triumph ISO 2 is a great option and I would highly recommend it. For more information, visit www.amazon.com/saucony.
